Having confidence in Thailand’s economic recovery following the new government’s restoration of political stability, Sumitomo Corporation, one of Japan’s major integrated trading and investment business enterprises is joining with Summit Capital Leasing to launch an annual executive-level seminar in Thailand for its retail finance subsidiary companies across Asia, allowing the meaningful exchange of business ideas, knowledge, experiences and best practices between its top executives, with an aim of enhancing competitiveness and business efficiency of its firms.
Wichit Phayuhanaveechai, Chief Executive Officer of Summit Capital Leasing, a leading provider of motorcycle leasing and hire purchase services and a subsidiary of Sumitomo Corporation said that as the company’s first Thai CEO, he felt very honoured that Thailand would play a host to Sumitomo Corporation’s Regional Retail Finance Workshop which would take place from October 2 to 3, 2014. That reflected its parent company’s confidence in Thailand as an important market with high growth potential, especially when the national stability had just been revived by the new government.
The Regional Retail Finance Workshop is Sumitomo Corporation’s annual event aimed at bringing top executives of its all retail finance subsidiary companies in Asia together for an exchange of their business ideas, plus sharing case studies of success and failure in business practices in each country. The three strategic issues are chosen for this year’s workshop. First is the IT Platform which is important for the group’s future working systems to operate effectively while some of the IT platforms will be considered to merge together in response to the company’s policy on the future business expansion. Next is the Customer Credit Scoring tool that each company has used to control standards of credit approval and minimize their risks. In order to evaluate customers’ qualities, Summit Capital Leasing uses the scorecard system with the credit bureau data to provide customers with a fast and accurate approval. The last issue is about the Customer Database Management which plays a crucial role in offering the utmost in customer satisfaction and also helps increase opportunities to cross-sell other products and services that fit customers’ profiles.
Summit Capital Leading is confident that the company would gain valuable knowledge experiences from this executive workshop. And they would be used to further develop and strengthen its business and services in Thailand before the launch of the Asean Economic Community next year and help the company achieve its ambitious plan to become a market leader within five years.
About 30 key executives of Sumitomo Corporation’s subsidiary companies in Asia will join the workshop, including General Manager of the Automotive Retail Finance Business of Japan’s Sumitomo Corporation Masataka Takanishi, Chief Executive Officer of OTO Group Co Ltd Djohan Marzuki from Indonesia, President of Sumisho Motor Finance Corporation Rolando A. Rodriguez from Philippines and Thailand’s management team.
