Pacific Park Sriracha will be hosting the 17th Pacific Motor Show on a grand scale, using a 22 million baht budget to promote the event and to cram in a slew of activities for visitors to enjoy. 19 leading automobile and motorcycle makers will heed the call of the event and bring with them the latest as well as the most popular models they have to offer. Visitors will be able to reserve their new rides under the best deals of the year – extended repayment period, zero-interest, reduced down payment, discounts of up to 100,000 baht per deal and full accessories set are being offered. The event’s organizers expect to see as high as 500,000 visitors during the nine-day event, contributing to a circulation of 600 million baht.
Somboon Vorapanyasakul, managing director of Pacific Park Sriracha Co. Ltd., said his company wanted to make sure the event is the grandest and most comprehensive auto show in the Eastern Region. The 17th Pacific Motor Show will take place from October 25 to November 2, 2014 at Pacific Park Sriracha shopping mall in Chonburi. The event will be held under the concept “My Car Is My Lover”, which emphasizes that a car can be everything for its owner, and not just a vehicle for commute, and without needing to be a luxury car or having an expensive price. The car is a life partner; you can drive it to work, and drive it to visit new places with your beloved or your family. A car reflects its owner's lifestyle and identity.
This year, 4,500 square meters of area inside and outside the mall building is being used for the event. Although the area is the same as last year, some space has been reallocated to bicycle booths, because these vehicles are currently popular. Space has also been rearranged in order to facilitate greater convenience for visitors. Each product category is clearly separated from the others. The car companies have also been asked to beautify their booths and allow visitors to experience the cars more closely, for example, they should be able to sit in the cars. The space in the booth used for filling in reservation documents should also be made more comfortable; customers should be as comfortable as they can be.
The space is divided into 6 zones. The first is the promotional area on the underground level, to be used to exhibit car accessories. The second is the promotional area on the first floor, to be used to display the products from all participating motorcycle makers. The third is the promotional area on the third floor, which will host the bicycle booths. The fourth is the Pacific Hall and the space on the fourth floor, which will be used as display area for cars, as well as super cars; the opening ceremony for the 17th Pacific Motor Show will take place at the front of the hall. The fifth zone is the space in front of the shopping mall, and the sixth zone is the space to the side of the mall. Both zones will be used for the displays of car audio products, coyote dance, modified and customized motorcycles; a car audio competition will also take place here.
The operating budget for this year is 22 million baht – roughly 10% higher than the previous year. The increase of budget will allow for more activities to entertain the visitors. An example would be the sexy car wash shows featuring sexy ladies – this activity will take place every day this time around. There will also be mini-concerts by G-Twenty, and exclusive fashion shows by Playboy magazine's bunny girls. Motorcycle lovers will also be greeted to a customized motorcycles display. There will be an abundance of coyote dances and coyote contests that take place amid the sounds expelled from car audio systems from leading brands. Pretty presenters and girl gangs will be stationed at the Pacific Motor Show every day. Other entertaining activities will also be available. Part of the increased budget goes toward increased publicizing of the event in the various provinces of the Eastern Region. Mediums used include community radio, banners and new media such as websites and Facebook. A total of 80,000 baht worth of prizes are being handed out to those who participate in the like & share drive on our Facebook fan page.
A total of 19 manufacturers will be at the event, similar to last year's figure. There will be 13 car makers – Volvo, BMW, Toyota, Honda, Mazda, Nissan, Isuzu, Chevrolet, Mitsubishi, Ford, Suzuki, SGP CNG, and TP Auto Import. The latter will be showing off its Mercedes-Benz and Porsche super cars. All of the manufacturers are committed to bringing with them popular new models and also those that have just launched. Examples include the new Volvo V40, the BMW X3, the Honda Mobilio, the Toyota Vigo TRD Sportivo, Mazda BT50 pro eclipse, Nissan NAVARA NP300, Isuzu Mu-x, Mitsubishi New Pajero Sport, Ford Ranger, Chevrolet Captiva, and Suzuki Celerio.
Meanwhile, 6 motorcycle makers have heeded the call of the event – Yamaha, Honda, Honda BIGBIKE, Vespa, Platinum, and Stallion.Titanium bicycles will also have their own booth. Similar to the car makers, the motorcycle companies are also bringing their latest line-up of models. Various models of big bikes will also be available, along with special end-of-year deals for buyers.
Mr. Somboon Vorapanyasakul added that although the economy has not yet recovered as a whole, the political sector is stable.Economic stimulus programs have been readily released. Short-term measures for various problems have been issued, and long-term measures for the sustainability of the agriculture sector, such as the rice and rubber sectors, are being sought. The expediting of budget used on large projects will inject more cash into circulation, consequently spurring more employment and increasing consumers’ confidence. The last quarter of the year is also high season; businesses will be pushing out promotional campaigns to boost sales and to spur the demands of the market and of consumers, in the hope of notching up sales.
We will definitely see generous promotions at the event. Examples would be zero-interest 72-month hire purchase, free first class insurance, reduced down payment and down payment discounts of up to 130,000 baht. Other examples include complementary full-fledged accessories set, gifts of iPhone 6 or gold necklaces, etc. Some booths are also willing to tailor make their promotion to the customer's demand. There will also be factors that contribute positively to the demand of consumers, such as the new models as well as the minor change models of affordable cars that have been launched recently. Special campaigns will also be on hand for the models that will soon receive a facelift. It is expected that over the 9 days of the show there will be 600 million baht of circulation, and pre-orders of about 600 cars and motorcycles are expected. The expected circulation and sales figures are similar to the previous year. The visitors count should be at least 500,000 due to the emphasis being placed on more entertaining activities, which are expected to draw a larger crowd to the show.
All of the vehicle makers will also collaborate with Pacific Park Sriracha in allowing customers who reserve vehicles at the show to contribute a portion of the transaction toward the construction of a new medical complex at Queen Savang Vadhana Memorial Hospital in Sriracha.
