Photo Release: Norway’s Ambassador to Thailand and Cambodia meets contingent of Myanmar students of AIT funded by NMFA

Bangkok--16 Oct--Asian Institute of Technology On a visit to the campus of the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) on 14 October 2014, Norway’s Ambassador to Thailand and Cambodia H.E. Mr. Kjetil Paulsen (center) addressed AIT’s large contingent of postgraduate students from Myanmar funded through the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (NMFA) Scholarship Program. The Bangkok-based diplomat said Norway was happy to earmark funds to assist students from Myanmar to attain their Master’s degree at AIT. The scholarship recipients’ increased technical and professional skills forms an important part Norway’s overall goal to assist capacity development in the country, thereby aiding the democracy process that contributes to peace and social progress for Myanmar, Ambassador Paulsen said. Following his remarks, the ambassador met with individually the students, who collectively thanked Norway for its generous support to their higher education. Ambassador Paulsen was joined on the visit by Mr. Erik Svedahl, Minister Counsellor, Norway Embassy, Bangkok; Dr. Chatri Moonstan, Senior Program Officer, Norway Embassy, Bangkok; and Mr. Andreas Johan Vogt, Trainee, NMFA.
