Sosuco and Group (2008) Co Ltd, sales and marketing company of “Sosuco” floor and wall tiles, will play a pivotal role in organising this year’s edition of the World Othello Championship, which will also be the first time it takes place in Thailand. The company has announced its readiness and unveiled the four top Thai players who will compete against the 76 international representatives at the grand event to be held from 5-8 November 2014 at Tharathep Ballroom of the Chaophya Park Hotel in Bangkok.
“We are delighted that Thailand has been honoured to host the World Othello Championship 2014 and we have eagerly taken part as the key organiser,” said Kittichai Kraikokit, Sosuco and Group (2008)’s Managing Director.
“Since 2006, Sosuco has provided support for the Thailand Othello Association in organising the national competitions and sponsoring players who participated in the world championship tournaments. We have acknowledged that this board game helps promote intellectual development, concentration and emotional control, which will be useful both in studying and at work, so the young people should increasingly be encouraged to play Othello,” he added.
The Thailand Othello Association was co-founded by Linsue Panajarn, Managing Director of Blue Ocean Food and Drinks Co Ltd,. He was also the Association’s first chairman.
He said: “I am very proud to have established this association and I really appreciate that many younger members have dedicated themselves to publicising this board game so that it will benefit more and more people. I also want to thank Sosuco for its continued support financially and in all other areas, which have allowed many aspiring Thai players to have an opportunity to improve their skills and build up Thailand’s reputation in the global matches.”
The Thailand squad to participate in the World Othello Championship 2014 comprises Piyanat Aunchulee, Woramet Hempijit, Warawut Intaranob and Nida Pattarakul. All of them will compete both in the individual and team categories against champions and runners-up from various countries, including Japan, the US, China and Italy. There will be 80 contestants in total.

Application for membership is always welcomed and free of charge so people of all ages can test their skill at the game and they could also get a chance to compete abroad and learn from competitors from all over world,” Mr Kittichai said.
The World Othello Championship 2014 will take place from 6-8 November 2014 at Tharathep Ballroom of the Chaophya Park Hotel, Bangkok.
