Bangkok--20 Oct--Pro Media PR Messe Düsseldorf GmbH, the leading organizer of international trade event, is upbeat on the prospect of the bi-annual glasstec 2014 - the international trade fair featuring the entire spectrum of material glass – where number of exhibitors is on par with previous event. After two years, the international glass industry will once again descend on Düsseldorf, Germany for glasstec 2014 to be held during 21 to 24 October, 2014 to experience the industry’s most prominent event. It is expected that some 1,150 exhibitors will join this year’s fair, a similar number to the prior edition in 2012 when 1,175 exhibitors showcased their products, innovations, technologies and services. Mr. Hans Werner Reinhard, Deputy Managing Director of Messe Düsseldorf GmbH, said the event in 2012 attracted more than 42,000 visitors which 83% of them said they directly involved in decision-making process at their organisation, making glasstec a “must attended event” for many leading international glass manufacturers and suppliers. “We’re delighted by the great response to glasstec 2014, especially with the economic situation in the flat-glass sector and partially even in the mechanical-engineering sector being rather tense at the moment. The fact that businesses continue to count on glasstec, particularly in challenging times, underscores the event’s extraordinary significance,” said Mr. Reinhard. glasstec 2014 will present the world of glass from production and processing to finishing and final applications as well as additional ranges form part of the supporting programme for architecture and construction, windows and façade as well as solar industries. One highlight of the event is the special show “glass technology live” (gtl), always draw huge crowd at glasstec. In 2014, the highlighted themes at this special show, which covers about 2,500 square metres, will fall under the rubric “Intelligent Glass” and include the areas Intelligent Building Envelopes, Façade + Energy (Solar), Innovation in Glass and Glass Design + Interior. Mr. Joachim Schmid, Managing Director of VDMA Associations Construction Equipment and Building Material Machinery and Mining Equipment, Frankfurt, said glasstec is the best place worldwide for visitors to see that machinery and plant, equipment and technology used to produce, process and finish glass are as varied and as advanced as the material glass itself - all along the production chain. He said visitors can expect to see state of the art technology and high-tech solutions that help to save energy, resources and costs and at the same time improve yield and the quality of the end product. For example, the Glass batch preheating will help reduce emissions as the generally 30% of waste heat will be used in the process, resulting in lowering cost and more productivity. The exhibitors will also present wide range of technologies that will help on energy savings and reduction of CO² emissions by 60% and increase the productivity of around 10%. New technologies and trends is also the topic of a technology symposium which is organised by VDMA on October 22 during glasstec and in connection with the glass technology live exhibition. This year’s title is “production technology for the processing and refining of glass”. A focus will be on quality control, monitoring and process control. Mr. Songpol Bumpensanti, Vice Chairman, Thai Glass Manufacturers Industry Club, the Federation of Thai Industries, said Thailand is a leading glass manufacturer in Asia with overall production worth around 50 billion baht a year and the export value of approximately 10 billion baht each year. Thailand has the largest glass production capacity in Southeast Asia. Thai glass industries are important to the development of Thai economy as glass containers are the necessities for several industries such as beverage, food, medicine and cosmetic. The direction and trend of Thai glass industries in the future is moving towards green and environmental friendly products, energy saving and maximization of natural resource.
