Recently, Mr. Phongsthorn Thavisin (back row: center), Executive Vice President, Development & Engineering Group of PTT Exploration and Production Public Company Limited (PTTEP), and Associate Professor Dr. Peerayuth Charnsethikul (back row: 3rd from right), Dean of Faculty of Engineering of Kasetsart University, together with teachers and students from the faculty, joined hands to develop Thailand’s First Autonomous Underwater Vehicle (AUV) prototype with the objectives to increase AUV technology knowledge in academic institutes and to empowers the country’s innovative capability. In 2017, the AUV is expected to be ready for subsea maintenance operation at petroleum production platforms.
