Bangkok--29 Oct--Aziam Burson-Marsteller Comprehensive program, judging and selection of winners organized by the Federation of Business and Professional Women’s Association under the Royal Patronage of Her Majesty the Queen DHL Express, the world’s leading international express services provider, is pleased to announce that Chananyarak Phetcharat, Managing Director of DHL Express Thailand and Indochina, has received top honors in the category of “Outstanding Women Leaders for Green Growth Awards”, in recognition of her leadership in Thailand of the DHL green growth initiative GoGreen and contributions as a female business leader. The annual program is organized by the Federation of Business and Professional Women’s Association under the Royal Patronage of Her Majesty the Queen, and the judging process includes review of submissions, evaluation and selection of winners. “It is a great honor for me to be presented with this distinguished award in commemoration of our collective GoGreen efforts at DHL, to minimize the impact of our business on the environment and ensure sustainable development in Thailand,” said Chananyarak Phetcharat. “This award is also of great importance because it will allow for our GoGreen efforts to gain greater visibility and increase the awareness of environmental sustainability.” “DHL is the first company in the logistics sector to set a specific carbon efficiency target, and our GoGreen program is deeply integrated into our business’ overarching corporate strategy. “At DHL, we measure greenhouse gas emissions using standardized procedures, which we continuously adapt and optimize. This allows us to identify potential efficiency gains and, as a next step, implement the necessary carbon efficiency measures. The measures we implement are as diverse as our business. We develop and deploy innovative technologies across our fleets, offices and facilities. We are making the transition to alternative fuels, optimizing the carbon efficiency of our networks and routes, and increasing environmental awareness among our employees around the world,” said Chananyarak Phetcharat. To help customers better analyze their environmental footprint to manage their carbon emissions, DHL has developed a carbon reporting methodology, to provide a best-in-class CO2 calculation, which follow the Greenhouse Gas Protocol and the World Economic Forum consignment Level standards. The DHL Express GOGREEN service, launched in 2008 to offer companies a more environmentally-responsible shipping option by calculating carbon emissions generated by transporting each shipment point to point, provides customers the opportunity to off-set the carbon emission produced when shipping their parcels and goods. The following GOGREEN services are available throughout Asia Pacific: GOGREEN Carbon Footprint report: This report is ideal for customers who want to manage their own carbon emissions or want to get a view of their carbon emissions before deciding on the right solution. GOGREEN Carbon Estimate report: Built from a DHL patented methodology to give a one-off screening of emissions over a three month period, this one-off report is ideal for customers who require a high level view of their shipments’ emission. DHL’s GOGREEN Climate Neutral shipment is just like any other DHL shipment, except that there is a corresponding contribution to a climate protection project through the purchase of carbon credits. “The Shared Value proposition plays an important role in all of our environmental protection activities. Shared Value means that our contributions to environmental protection and society also enhance the success of our business. In this way, our diverse carbon efficiency measures and portfolio of GOGREEN products and services not only benefit society and the environment, but also create added value for our customers, strengthening our market position”, said Chananyarak Phetcharat. Aside from investments in energy efficient buildings and air fleet modernization, and employee dedication to growing a sustainable business, the DHL Express GOGREEN service also plays an important role in CO2 efficiency improvement. DHL GOGREEN Climate Neutral service is annually verified by an independent certifying body – the Swiss-based Société Générale de Surveillance, a United Nations independent auditor, to ensure accountability and transparency. Customers receive certification from DHL stating the total amount of CO2 offset on their behalf during the year. Customers can choose to send all or a selection of their international shipments using the DHL GOGREEN Climate Neutral service. For a surcharge, DHL will offset the carbon emissions for international air express shipments. DHL is purchasing nearly 210,000 renewable energy certificates (RECs) from wind farms to offset 100% of the company's expected 2014 consumption. In 2013, DHL purchased 188,000 energy certificates, offsetting approximately 90% of its total electricity consumption. The energy certificates acquired by DHL this year are equivalent to avoiding the carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions of more than 30000 passenger vehicles, or the emissions from electricity used by 20000 average American homes annually, according to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).
