Huawei Technologies (Thailand) Co., Ltd., led by Mr. Chen Rui (2nd ftom left), Managing Director and King Mongkut’s Institute of Technology Ladkrabang (KMITL) led by Dr. Komsan Maleesee (2nd from right), Dean, Faculty of Engineering, jointly announced the establishment of a cooperative agreement between the two organizations that will involve academic and technical knowledge transfers as well as career development support for students focusing on telecommunications and related disciplines. The initial agreement is for two years with the possibility that the term will be extended. Huawei also presented 4 special scholarships to highly qualified engineering students. The recipients will be able to participate in Huawei’s highly competitive internship program and have a guaranteed full-time job upon graduation.
Under the new agreement, Huawei and KMITL will cooperate in a number of key areas including skills development for both students and Huawei staff, provision of special summer training programs for students, staff exchanges including having Huawei professionals serve as instructors, mentors or advisors at KMITL, and facilitating qualified KMITL students to apply for internships or full-time positions at Huawei. This is the first agreement of its type for Huawei in Thailand and will demonstrate the many practical benefits to be achieved when academic institutions partner with leading private sector corporations.
In the coming year Huawei plans to establish formal relations with the engineering and technology oriented faculties at the top 10 universities in Thailand. This will represent a critical element of the company’s total CSR program and reinforce its reputation as an excellent corporate citizen in Thailand.
