Stamford International University, a respected and established innovative educational institute in Thailand, hosted the Laureate International Universities webinar broadcast, 2014 Clinton Global Initiative Annual Meeting, giving students a chance to be included in a debate on a wealth of key global issues. This Laureate exclusive webcast offered Stamford students, faculty and staff a chance to be part of facilitating the development of forward-thinking approaches that re-envision the world under the topic of “Reimaging Impact.” Students heard from President Barack Obama, Ginni Rometty, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of IBM, and many other global opinion leaders. The webinar meeting was hosted at the Stamford Auditorium (Building 1), Bangkok Campus.
The Clinton Global Initiative is a key partner in Laureate’s Corporate Social Responsibility program. Laureate’s Honorary Chancellor, President Bill Clinton, created the Clinton Global Initiative University in 2007 to connect the world’s next generation of leaders with business, philanthropic and government officials committed to solving the biggest challenges facing the current age. More than $1 million has been awarded to students who have created initiatives in one of the CGI’s five core areas: education, environment and climate change, peace and human rights, poverty alleviation, and public health.
Stamford International University, a member of the Laureate International Universities network, affords students the unique opportunity to engage with global leaders through era-defining programs that give students knowledge, perspective, and a chance to improve their skills and contribute to a better world. Stamford students are the only students in Thailand to benefit from such a participatory association. Membership has inspired Stamford’s own CSR initiatives, such as “Here For Good”, Stamford’s English Teachers on Tour project which aims to provide educational opportunity to areas in need. Stamford strives to improve the quality of Thai education to meet and exceed international standards of competency and excellence.
