Thaicom Continues Strong Growth in Q3/2014 Driving the High Potential of Thai Satellites

Bangkok--11 Nov--Thaicom - THAICOM 7 satellite was successfully launched into the orbit - Launched a free in-flight Wi-Fi Onboard Service for the first time in Asia - The Consolidated Normalized Net Profit 9M/2014 grew 67% YoY Thailand’s satellite operator, Thaicom Public Company Limited today released its operating results for Q3/2014 showing a strong financial growth of the Consolidated Normalized Net Profit 9M/2014 at 67% YoY with the success of THAICOM 7 satellite launching, the Wi-Fi Onboard Service for Nok Air, the issuance of 4,550 Million Thai Baht Debenture as well as the world class "NASA - A HUMAN ADVENTURE" Exhibition expected in upcoming December. Suphajee Suthumpun, Chairman of the Executive Committee and CEO, Thaicom PLC stated that, “In the third quarter, the company's turnover rose. Its consolidated revenue from sales of goods and rendering of services for Q3/2014 totaled Baht 2,598 million, continuously growing from the same quarter last year. The revenue from sales and services of THB 2,598 million and a normalized net profit of Baht 1,407 million which increased by 67% for 9M/2014. It's not only worth business profits, in Q3/2014, the Company’s successfully launched THAICOM 7 into the orbital services at 120 degrees East. THAICOM 7 has fulfilled the increasing demand in satellite capacity among Thailand and the Asia Pacific region. Additionally, Thaicom had Issued 4,550 Million Baht Debentures with the main purpose to reducemore than 50% of THAICOM 7 Satellite cost. These Debentures have received overwhelming positive feedback from investors which reflects high confidence in The Company. Moreover, Thaicom has also provided a free in-flight Wi-Fi Onboard Service to Nok Air’s passengers with a 3G-speed connection via Ku-band network for the first time in Asia.” As for Thaicom Broadband which is one of the main businesses, Thaicom has recognized significant revenue from China’s Synertone while IPSTAR Australia has also added more subscribers onto the NBN Co Satellite Support (NSS) Scheme. “Several milestones during the past years of Thaicom reflect our contribution to Thailand and Asia Pacific. In other areas of the Company’s operations, its media business, DTV Service Co., Ltd. (DTV) has still collaborated with True Visions to add True Vision’s sports and entertainment content package on Ku-band. Moreover, DTV has focused on collaboration with content partners to expand its customer-base by delivering a diversified content. As a result, DTV generated the increase in sales of DTV satellite dish and IRD box compared to Q2/2014. Its internet and media subsidiary, CSL had a continuous growth on the number of subscribers for Leased Line and Internet Data Center (IDC) services, resulting from an increase in new customers and bandwidth usage from its corporate customers. For Internet services via broadband, high price competition caused a decrease in broadband customer base. The Company put more effort to focus on providing ICT & Cloud Solution Services in order to conform with current customer demands. Lao Telecom (LTC), the Company’s telephone operation in the Lao PDR, Currently, LTC still ranks No.1 in Lao PDR’s mobile phone.
