Bangkok--21 Nov--ICT for All Club ICT for All Club donated funds for education at Srisangwan School for Disabled Children, Foundation for the Welfare of the Crippled under the Royal Patronage of Her Royal Highness the Princess Mother (Somdet Phra Srinagarindra Boromarajajonani) On Wednesday 12 November 2014 Mr. Thossaphol NORATUS, president of the ICT for All Club, together with Ms. Pannarai Kantaghit, Former Secretary-General of the National Economic and Social Advisory Council of Thailand (NESAC), Mrs. Jaraschoam Veerapornvanichkul, Former Director of the Academic Bureau (Office of the NESAC), Mr.Chatawit Mongkolsaen, ICT for All Club’s Advisor and President, Thai Consumers Development Association (TCDA), donated funds amounting to 10,400 Thai Baht for education at Srisangwan School, under the auspices of the Foundation for the Welfare of the Crippled under the Royal Patronage of Her Royal Highness the Princess Mother (Somdet Phra Srinagarindra Boromarajajonani) on the special occasion commemorating the third cycle of the Chinese zodiac (36th) birthday anniversary of ICT for All Club's president on 12 November 2014 and to commemorate the first activity of the ICT for All Club held at Srisangwan School. These funds will be used for school activities for the benefit and happiness of the students. Additionally, the president of the ICT for All Club gave a book about the Sufficiency Economy Philosophy, and 100Watts magazine (amateur radio magazine), Microcomputer magazine (2 magazines had published articles by the president of ICT for All Club) to the school library. On this occasion, the school representatives who received the funds from ICT for All Club’s president were Ms. Aumnuay Sipua-arm, Deputy Director of Srisangwan School and Ms.Tippaporn Netkaew, Deputy Director of Srisangwan School. After that, Deputy Director Tippaporn and Mr.Ittiphol Pimchai toured the school. Srisangwan School has around 250 students, who have been treating and rehabilitating the handicapped so that they can be self-sufficient within their potential, and studying at the same time. ICT for All Club provided the first activity at Srisangwan School which was an academic lecture on the Celebrations on the Auspicious Occasion of His Majesty the King’s 80th Birthday Anniversary 5th December 2007, titled “Following the King's IT Expertise”, the keynote speaker being Professor Dr.Srisakdi Charmonman, president of the Computer Association of Thailand under the Royal Patronage of HM the King (in year 2007), on Wednesday 12 December 2014, 13.30-15.30 hrs at the convention room of the Srisangwan School. The Foundation was established on 17 September 1954 and was accepted into the royal patronage of Her Royal Highness the Princess Mother in 1955. and is a private non-profit institution. In its early state, the Foundation provided education by volunteers to children that suffered from polio at Siriraj Hospital. The volunteers were doctors, nurses, medical students and nurse students. In 1958, Princess Prem (Ngarmchit) Purachatra, who was the president of the Foundation at that time, requested a teacher from the Division of Special Education, Ministry of Education to help teach. There were 17 to 25 students in that year, and each student must have had an educational basis from Kindergarten to upper-secondary education (university preparatory) level. Later in 1961, the Foundation established the “Disabled Children Service Center” on state property land at Bang Talad sub-district, Pak Kret district, Nonthaburi province, which is where the Foundation is currently located. The center has since been providing rehabilitation and living quarters for children from the provinces, who were being treated at hospitals in Bangkok. On 28 June 1961, the Ministry of Education allowed the Foundation’s "School for Disabled Children" in the center’s area for disabled children in order to provide education to children with disabilities who do not attend school until primary education level 6. Her Royal Highness the Princess Mother (Somdet Phra Srinagarindra Boromarajajonani) presided over the opening ceremony of the school on 11 February 1965 and named it "Srisangwan School" The Foundation for the Welfare of the Crippled is recognized as the first non-government organization (private sector) and the only organization in Thailand that has been providing assistance to children with physical disabilities due to brain disorder (Cerebral Palsy: CP) in the early stages and enhance the medical, social and vocational potential of the disabled physically, mentally and spiritually, in order for them to be self-sufficient and live independently in society. This includes lodging, caring, clothing, food, mobility aids, orthotics and prosthetics, etc. The Foundation has also been facilitating the services for checks, diagnosis, treatment, surgery, recovery, therapy and rehabilitation in hospitals. At the same time, the Srisangwan School has been providing rehabilitation services in education, social interaction and careers for these children. Today, Srisangwan School is responsible for educating handicapped children, both boys and girls, between the ages of 4 and 18. The students include both boarders and day students. The curriculum follows the standard curriculum of the Ministry of Education. The school covers from kindergarten to grade 9, and has special classes for the mentally handicapped. Once the students have graduated from Srisangwan School, the Foundation provides scholarships for those who are able to continue their education up to university level.
