“Frohe Weihnachten” – festive celebration the German way
“Bei Otto” – the German Institution in the heart of Bangkok, is synonymous for delicious German food, homemade bakery and pastry products as well as authentic butchery specialties for the past 30 years.
This festive season, Executive Pasty Chef Peter Douscha from Germany and his team of dedicated chefs have created a colorful array of Christmas stollen, cookies, pastries and goodies so all of you can celebrate this joy full time, the German way.
Leading the list of delicious creations is our homemade Christstollen, based on Bei Otto’s traditional recipes. Stollen was originally created, over 500 years ago in the area of the city of Dresden in Germany. It is a bread-like fruitcake whose shape is meant to symbolize the baby Jesus wrapped in swaddling clothes. It is made with yeast, water and flour, with candied orange peel and candied citrus peel, raisins, almonds and spices such as cardamom and cinnamon added to the dough.
Furthermore our home-produced products of the highest quality include Christmas cookies, ginger bread, our special Christmas cakes such as our Yule Log – a chocolate sponge role, or the Christmas fruit cake, our ginger bread Christmas star tree as well as the rice crisp chocolate tree and of course our fabulous homemade ginger bread houses. Besides a good selection of popular German import products we also have exclusive “Wicklein” gingerbread from Nuremberg, Germany. One of the leading producers of traditional gingerbread since 1615!
