GIT hosts Gen and Jewelry Design Contest, Knockout Round In search of ultimate jewel designers of the world, under the Battle of Colors concept

Bangkok--1 Dec-- The Gem and Jewelry Institute of Thailand (Public Organization) or GIT hosts the 8th Gem and Jewelry Design Contest: GIT World's Jewelry Design Awards 2014, final round. This year, new generations of designers all showed their jewelry design ideas under the concept of “Battle of Colors; The Design Your Eyes Can’t Ignore” vying for the title of ultimate jewelry designers of the world, clinching cash rewards of more than 450,000 THB at Eden Zone, 1st floor, Central World Shopping Center. Mrs. Pornsawat Wattanakul, Director of the Gem and Jewelry Institute of Thailand says that “Thai designers jewelry design works are considered to be on the forefront. At present, jewelry market and industry have great demand for designers. Therefore, an important task of the Institute is the promotion and dissemination of knowledge as well as expanding opportunities for gem and jewelry business. The Institute has organized the gem and jewelry design contest for 8 consecutive years, to provide opportunities for new generations of designers, both Thai and foreign, to show their designing skills under the concept of “Battle of Colors-The Design Your Eyes Can’t Ignore” which, after the launch of the 8thGem and Jewelry Design Contest or GIT World's Jewelry Design Awards 2014 by the end of July this year, there were altogether 303 designs submitted: 85 design works on men’s jewelry category and 218 for women’s jewelry category. There were international designers from 13 countries who participate in this contest such as Japan, Taiwan, Malaysia, Vietnam, the United State of America, UAE, Singapore, England, Italy, India, Indonesia and Iran have been shortlisted to 6 drawings. The jury attaches importance to the works with creative ideas, beauty and wear ability. Mrs. Pornsawat adds that “The gem and jewelry design works this year are much more distinct and beautiful than in the past years. Designers have been able to present clearly their ideas in the hand-drawn designs, especially the works from students with good development, showing their understanding in the interpretation of the theme. Diamond and precious stones are chosen as main raw materials in most designs. We have been honored by the distinguished judges namely, Mrs. Prapee Sorakraikitikul, Chairman of Pranda Jewelry (Public) Company Limited, Mr. Suriyon Sriorathaikul, Managing Director of Beauty Gems Factory Company Limited, Ms. Phannarat Sornprachum, Industrial Products Designer (Senior Professional level), Department of Industrial Promotion, Mr. Pirawat Suraseth, Managing Director Lee Seng Jewelry (L.S. Jewelry Group), Mr. Chanchai Lertkulthanon, Vice President, Group Manufacturing New Product Introduction PANDORA PRODUCTION CO., LTD., Mr. Camillo Pellegatta, Consultant for Art Creation “Casato Jewels”, Italy and Mr. Seyed Mohammad Mortazavi, Design Director of Rhyton, Iran, to join the jury for this round as well”. The most six highest score designs will pass to the final round which will be manufactured into the real jewelry products; 3 design work pieces from Men’s Jewelry category the works by Mr. Kitisak Maicharoen, entitled Black & Yellow, the works by Mr. Poom Puttorngul, entitled Prime, and the works by Mr. Nattawat Srinoon, entitled Action in Color Field and the other 3 design work pieces from Women’s Jewelry category; the works by Mr. Suppachai Bua-ngam, entitled The Colors of Nature, the works by Mr. Ekkajit Klaewchit, entitled Flowers of Colors, and the works by Ms. Rojarin Nanthavisuttiwong, entitled Butterfly in the Garden Collection. For the works to be shown in the fashion show of the final round during25 - 26 November 2014 on the first floor, Eden Zone, Central World Shopping Center, the contest sponsoring companies will take the design works selected in the knockout round to be produced as real jewelry works for leading actors and models such as Mak – Parin, Louis – Scot, Top – Charon, Noei – Chotika to wear on show, comprising 6 works, 3 as women jewelry, and 6 men jewelry, with an exhibition put on during 25 - 26 November, 2014.
