TAT Invites All to “Cross-Year Prayer: Welcoming Happiness” At the Rai Chern Tawan Meditation Center of Chiang Rai

Bangkok--22 Dec--AirAsia The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) in hand with revered monk V. Vachiramethi’s Rai Chern Tawan Meditation Center in Chiang Rai and AirAsia is inviting travelers and those interested to participate in its “Cross-Year Prayer: Welcoming Happiness” event, running from this 25 December 2014 to 5 January 2015 at the Rai Chern Tawan Meditation Center in Chiang Rai province. Mr. Anuphap Thirarat, Deputy Governor of the Domestic Market for the Tourism Authority of Thailand, remarked that a slew of activities are taking place in the various provinces during the end of 2014 and beginning of 2015, all intent on welcoming travelers both Thai and foreign. He pointed out the Northern region is one of the most visited during the year-end period due to its variety of natural travel destinations and its cool climate. Chiang Rai is one of the most popular among the Northern provinces for year-end travel with its wealth of flora and fauna. The Rai Chern Tawan Meditation Center under revered monk V. Vachiramethi has organized the “Cross-Year Prayer: Welcoming Happiness” event, starting on 5 December 2014 and extending until 5 January 2015. The activity is one several alluring happenings the TAT has chosen to promote to travelers. Revered monk V. Vachiramethi, Chairman of the Vimuttayalaya Institution, explained that the Rai Chern Tawan Meditation Center of Chiang Rai under the Vimuttayalaya Institution has drafted a ‘calendar of happiness’ for the “Cross –Year Prayer: Welcoming Happiness” event, which will run from 25 December 2014 to 5 January 2015. The happening is to preserve Buddhist traditions for celebrating the New Year and will be populated by a range of activities. Starting 25 December 2014 and continuing until 5 January 2015, the “10,000 Lanna Lanterns, 100,000 Blooming Blossoms” festival will see over 500 Lanna style floating lanterns released through a tunnel of 38 species of flowers significant to the Buddhist faith extending over 100 meters, under the concept “Enjoying Flowers, Enjoying 38 Parables”. On 31 December 2014, the “Cross-Year Prayer: Welcoming Happiness” event will take place, preceded by “Dharma In Concert” by Suchart Chawangkul. The first sermon of the year will be “Malala Yousafsai and the heart of the Boddhisatva” by the monk V. Vachiramethi and on 1 January 2015, participants will be invited to give morning alms with the revered monk beside the Rai Chern Tawan Lake, where they will receive the “3 Arts of the Lanna Land” calendar, the “9 Ways to Happiness” Dharma sermon CD and “Greater Merit for Life” booklet. Mr. Krit Pattanasarn, Business Relations Manager of Thai AirAsia, elaborated that to promote travel to the Northern region, AirAsia has gladly chosen to take part in the cross-year prayer tradition, which promotes happiness through the changing of the years. AirAsia is fully ready to facilitate the travel of visitors to Chiang Rai with direct flights from Don Mueang Airport in Bangkok to Mae Fah Luang Airport in Chiang Rai.
