Museum Siam, Discovery Museum by National Discovery Museum Institute - NDMI, recently organized ‘Night at the Museum’, the 5th chapter on ‘Awakening the Legend of Giant’, three-night experience with the edutainment on ‘legend giant’ theme. The fun museum night took place at Museum Siam on Sanamchai Road, Phra Nakhon.
Mr.Rames Promyen, Director of the National Discovery Museum Institute said ‘this year’s Night at the Museum on ‘Awakening the Legend of Giant’ aim to create knowledgeable innovation for the audience, to think, question and find the answer about Thai story in new perspective. We would like to awaken the power of Yakshas (giant demons) and we believe that it is going to be the next step of the endless power of learning of the Thai nation.’
Highlights of Night at the Museum was the stage show on ‘The Spirit of Giant’, the famous legend of the battle between the yaksha guardians at Wat Arun and Wat Pho, and how the fight came to an end with the solution for the peace treaty.
In addition, there was ‘Yak International!’, the showcase models of well-known giants from many countries including Cyclops, Talos from Greek mythology, Oni from Japanese folklore. ‘Yak Cute!’ booth, the exhibition of the myth of guardian giants in Thai culture in the form of the street show-style performance while the YAK Guesstimate booth, presented visitors on fortune-telling.
The ‘Like a Yak!’ booth matched certain yakshas from the Ramayana epic with the world’s extraordinary figures, including Steve Jobs, Mark Zuckerberg and Leonardo da Vinci. For example, ‘Nontok’ – giant who had never given up the fight or his routine works is same as Mark Zuckerberg, today’s giant who has proved a college degree isn’t the only path to success. ‘Indrajit’- never stop learning giant is same as Da vinci, the world’s greatest artist who believed that the secret of success is not how much you learn, but is never stop learning. The world ‘Ravana’ a self confidence giant is presented as Steve Jobs, the creator of leader in consumer technology: APPLE.
In addition, there was ‘Yakshas Talk’ session at ‘I am Yak’ booth, which guests experienced and learned how to bring out the ‘Giant’ power by inspirational figures including TV host and writer Wannasingh Prasertkul; the runner-up of The Voice Thailand Season I Keng-Tachaya Pratumwan; and Jiradt Pornpanitphan, the founder of ‘Cheeze’ magazine who has brought the ‘street fashion wear’ to Thailand.
Visitors also sampled various culinary in giant size such as meat ball, black jelly with syrup, steamed chicken with white rice, deep-fried dough stick and many more.
