The 21st World Travel Awards Grand Final once again saw InterContinental Hotels & Resorts receive multiple commendations, including the coveted title of World’s Leading Hotel Brand.
Leading the way among IHG’s hotel properties was another multiple-award winner – InterContinental Bangkok – which was named World’s Leading City Hotel. The hotel likewise led the way in Thailand with two additional awards for 2014: Thailand’s Leading Hotel and the property’s second straight recognition as Thailand’s Leading Business Hotel.
These latest accolades confirm InterContinental Bangkok as not only one of Thailand’s top business and leisure hotels, but also indeed now one of the world’s finest.
Melinda Lampier, Hotel Manager of InterContinental Bangkok, remarked, ‘InterContinental Bangkok is a very iconic property, right in the heart of the city, boasting some fantastic restaurants and bars and great rooms.’ The Hotel Manager added, ‘We are really proud to win this prestigious award. It is great recognition for all the hard work which we have done.’
This year’s awards event, held on 7 December 2014 on the Caribbean island of Anguilla, gathered industry professionals and travel writers for a ceremony recognizing the best hotels and resorts around the globe. The World Travel Awards programme was launched in 1993 to acknowledge excellence in the travel and tourism industry. The annual event has since become known as the travel industry's own Oscars, with awards based on votes by the public as well as travel professionals worldwide.
Likewise confirming its industry stature was InterContinental Hotels & Resorts, crowned World’s Leading Hotel Brand, an accolade the brand has held for six consecutive years since 2009 and twice before in 2005 and 2006. InterContinental Hotels & Resorts, part of InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG), claimed five awards in all at the Grand Finals.
