How should Asia-Pacific respond to growth challenges/opportunities in 2015?

Bangkok--12 Jan--ESCAP Despite a fairly positive outlook in 2015, economicgrowth prospects of developing Asia-Pacific countries remain challenged bydomestic structural constraints and the global economic environment. Structural reforms in some large economies in the region are boostinggrowth prospects while lower oil prices are an opportunity to addresschronic development deficits. Dr. Shamshad Akhtar, United Nations Under-Secretary-General and ESCAPExecutive Secretary will launch the annual update to the ESCAP flagshippublication, Economic and Social Survey of Asia and the Pacific 2014 on 13January 2015, addressing these issues. The Economic and Social Survey of Asia and the Pacific has been monitoringregional progress, providing cutting-edge analyses and guiding policydiscussion on the current and emerging socioeconomic issues and policychallenges to support inclusive and sustainable development in the regionsince 1947.
