Thai AirAsia X was recently awarded the Japan Tourism Award in Thailand 2014. The Japan Tourism Award is presented by the Japan National Tourism Organization (JNTO) in Bangkok to companies and individuals in Thailand who have significantly supported Japan Tourism throughout the year. Thai AirAsia X, Thailand's first low-fare, long-haul carrier launched direct flights from Bangkok Don Mueang Airport to Narita (Tokyo) and Kansai International Airport (Osaka) on September 1st, 2014. In the last four months, the airline has played a role in transporting over 120,000 passengers between Thailand and Japan. In 2014, a record-breaking 657,600 Thai people visited Japan, a 45% increase from 453,642 people in 2013.
