Ko Tao’s The Place named Top Hotel in the world for Luxury, Romance, Service and Small Hotels
TripAdvisor™, the world’s largest travel site*, today announced the winners of its Travellers’ Choice™ awards for Hotels. The 13th annual awards showcase 8,151 winning properties worldwide, covering eight regions around the globe. Travellers’ Choice award winners were determined based on the millions of reviews and opinions collected in a single year from TripAdvisor travellers worldwide. The hallmarks of Travellers’ Choice winners are remarkable service, quality and value.

True to Thailand’s position as a leading global destination, hotels around the country picked up a number of accolades in the regional and global arena. Most notable among the list of winner’s was The Place, an independent resort on Ko Tao that picked up the top global award in an impressive four categories, including Top Luxury Hotel, Best Hotel for Romance, Top Small Hotel and Best Hotel for Service. A recent survey2 of TripAdvisor travellers revealed 79 percent of respondents in Southeast Asia feel Travellers’ Choice award recognition is important when considering a hotel.

Elephant Hills is a tented jungle camp combining the camp idea of African national parks with the Thai tropical forest environment, still providing hotel-like comfort. The furniture is handmade by skilled craftsmen using natural materials. A TripAdvisor reviewer said, “The location is beautiful, great food and of course the elephants are amazing. The rainforest (floating tent) is stunning. Beautiful scenery and great to be on limited electricity etc. Absolutely loved it!”
