Anantara Phuket Layan Resort & Spa has officially launched an exciting and delicious series of Culinary Quest collaborations at Sala Layan restaurant that combine gastronomic creations and the creative arts.
The events showcase the unparalleled prowess of Executive Chef Umberto Piccolini, who has been collaborating with Thailand’s most intriguing creative talents to create exceptional dining experiences. The first of these unique art and gastronomy evenings kicked off in December, with the events continuing on the last Friday of every month throughout 2015.
The first culinary event combined the impeccable tastes of Executive Chef Umberto Piccolini with the diverse artistic talents of five renowned Phuket painters. The evening began with a sunset cocktail reception and art exhibition, which showcased a range of Thai art forms; from batik painting to nature artwork, before the main event: a five course connoisseur dinner that blended art and food.
The second event on 30th January 2015 is inspired by Italian musical composer Gioachino Rossini, and features a five-course menu that draws influence from the man himself and some of his most famous compositions. Dishes include Stuffed Rigatoni “Tanti Affetti”; Medallions of Veal “Rossini at the Ritz”; and Baked Apple “William Tell”. The menu will be paired with specially selected matching wines, as well as the musical talents of acclaimed Thai-French tenor Yves Baron Le Tenor, who will entertain guests with acoustic renditions of Rossini’s compositions.
From renowned painters as the guest artists in December, to an impressive musician in January and many more to come, each event will continue to pair the very best artists across many fields with Anantara Phuket Layan’s expert Chef for a series of tantalising and conceptual dining experiences.
Each Culinary Quest is individually priced. The event in January will cost THB 3,500++*.
