A prominent fixture on the Thailand’s education calendar, the eighth edition of ‘The Great India Education Fair’ (TGIEF) in Bangkok fields a larger delegation of Indian boarding schools and universities this year.
Hosted at the Queen Sirikit National Convention Center from 7 – 8 February, the two-day show has registered a significant rise in the number of exhibitors with nearly 70 premier institutions comprising of high ranking boarding schools, universities, colleges and English learning centres from India.
Its signifies the fact that in the past two decades, with regular political exchanges, growing trade and investment, India's ties with Thailand have now evolved into a comprehensive partnership including education.
‘The Great India Education Fair,’ attracts thousands of Thai parents, known to view Indian education, as a great pedestal for ‘higher education’ and ‘jobs’ in the most developed countries. The exhibition also hopes to catch the attention of the Non-Resident Indian diaspora in Thailand.
“Our exhibition is the perfect platform for parents and students in Thailand to connect with the authorities of the Indian educational institutions directly on a face to face basis,” states, Mr Sanjeev Bolia, Founder & Managing Director of ‘Afairs Exhibition & Media Pvt. Ltd.’ organisers of the TGIEF. He believes that this exhibition is as much a platform of opportunity as it is one for generating awareness about the merits of Indian education.
Observing the rising number of Thai students entering India on student visas to study in international boarding schools and Indian colleges and universities, he states, “It is obvious that Thai parents are very discerning and keen to give their children the best education they can. They send their children to India because they understand that English language proficiency apart, the cost-benefit advantage an Indian education offers them is greater than what a similar education in the United Kingdom, the United States or even in Thailand can give them!”
Geared to help visitors comprise of Parents and Students along with NRI Indians in Thailand to ‘think in terms of global educational options, ‘The Great India Education Fair’ will exhibit some of the high ranking and well-known residential schools in India like Mussoorie International School, Genesis Global School (Delhi NCR), Vidya Sanskar International School (Delhi NCR), Unison World School (Dehradun), Delhi Public School Sonepat (Delhi NCR), Ebenezer International School (Bangalore), Greenwood High (Bangalore), Neerja Modi School (Jaipur), etc. These will offer the Indian ‘ICSE’ and ‘CBSE’ board curriculums, as well as international curriculums like the ‘IB - International Baccalaureate’ and the ‘IGCSE.’ With the promise of providing excellent infrastructural facilities, teaching staff, grooming, outdoor activities and sports, these schools will also offer ‘spot admissions’ and spot counselling facilities’ at the exhibition.
The fair will also showcase some of the premier, Indian universities, colleges and higher education institutions, offering varied academic, professional and vocational programmes. ‘Spot counselling’ and ‘spot admission’ offers will be among the highlights of this exhibition. Some of the participating institutions are VIT University (Vellore), Christ University (Bangalore), ICFAI University (Hyderabad), Acharya Institutes (Bangalore), Dayanada Sagar (Bangalore), etc.

Top Universities, Colleges & English Learning Centers from India will all be under one roof, offering a diverse range of Under Graduate / Post Graduate Programs on Medical, Paramedical, Dentistry, Management, IT, Engineering, Animation and various other professional and Diploma.“The average cost for a three-year degree course in business management, the arts, or science and technology, including tuition fees and living costs, is USD 10,000 in India whereas in other countries like in Australia would be between USD 37,000 and USD 42,000, in the UK it would be USD 56,000 to 66,000, a public institute in the US would be USD 80,000, and a US private institute would be 137,000 for a four-year business or arts degree course, and 102,000 for a three-year science and technology course” explains Bolia.
