We can’t deny the facts that to-be moms need good nutrition during pregnancy for the whole 9 months. This is not only good for the baby, but also healthy for new mothers. The sad thing is that, after giving birth to the little one, you’re still accompanied with excessive fat. We know that it’s hard to drop baby weight when you have to perform duties as a sweet wife to your husband while involving in baby routine – for 24 hours a day. But it is possible for new mothers to be able to wear the same clothes or put yourself in the same jeans again! Herbalife has three golden rules in order to make a big change.
Rule no. 1 – Always have time. It doesn’t matter how busy you are. Always find time for exercise, such as during sleeping hours of your baby or while your nanny jumps in charge. Only half an hour a day will do. Guess what? Trying to exercise for 5 days a week is considered a bright start to healthy lifestyle.
Rule no. 2 – Don’t bore yourself. During those 5 days of workout, split up your exercise routines so that three focus on cardio activity and two are strength based. Mix up your workouts so your body won’t adapt to the same old routine, then you’ll start seeing results. You can mix it with your daily routines such as doing housework or during shower hours.
Rule no. 3 – Get yourself a challenge. Try to break your limits when you feel that exercise starts to be a piece of cake. Get on the more difficult level so that you’re not stuck in the same place.
Forget about calories stuff during your first month
Susan Bowerman, Director of Nutrition Training at Herbalife, talks about the trick, “Most women want to know how long it will take to lose the baby weight, but there’s no simple answer. Especially in the first month or so, pay less attention to your calorie intake. At this point, you shouldn’t really be thinking about baby weight at all. Your goal is to pack as much nutrition as you can into healthy so you have enough to produce milk for your baby. Go for lean proteins, dairy products, healthy fruits and vegetables and whole grains. This will ensure that your body gets the nutrients it needs such as protein to repair body tissues, and important minerals such as calcium and iron that are much-needed by new moms. Certainly in the first few weeks, you should be focusing on adjusting to motherhood and bonding with your baby, eating well, staying hydrated and getting enough rest”
Stay hydrated.
Dehydration can lead to fatigue, so adequate fluids are important. Whenever you sit down to feed your baby, make a point to have a glass of water or a cup of herbal tea. If you’re nursing your baby, avoid caffeine; if you’re bottle-feeding, curb your caffeine intake by afternoon so as not to disrupt your sleep at night.
Eat more but don’t’ eat everything
Pregnant women are trapped in an idea that they should eat for two. Hold on. It’s not the same as ‘eating everything in sight’ which is apparently causing excessive weight after the baby’s birth. You don’t just need extra calories to nurse a baby, you need extra nutrients, too, for yourself and your baby during breast feed. Besides, try to watch the sweets. They may help you fight fatigue throughout the day but obviously, sugary foods don’t provide high quality nutrition.
Don’t forget that it took you nine months to gain such weight so don’t expect to fall off overnight. It takes time. Once you and your baby fall into a routine, it’s a bit easier to establish an eating and exercise pattern that can help you lose about 0.4-0.9 kilogram of baby weight per week. You can feel the change within a month. The easiest way to test the results is to pick up your favorite old jeans. Put them on! Who knows, they may fit you right or may even be a bit too loose!
