Thaicom Connects Customers and Users to the Future Providing Total Solutions and Accessibility resulting in a 3-year Profitability

Bangkok--16 Feb--Thaicom Thaicom continues growing on with the "Connecting the Future" strategy aiming to connect the People, Opportunity and Technology to respond to all stakeholders' needs and shared values. Thailand’s satellite operator, Thaicom Public Company Limited has implemented a new “Connecting the Future” strategy to provide accessibility to telecommunications and satellite broadcasting initiatives for 2015. Thaicom released its operating results for the year 2014, revenue from sale of goods and rendering of services for 2014 totaled Baht 10,004 million, up by Baht 2,108 million or 26.7% from 2013. The revenue growth was mainly contributed from the revenues of all its business together with the cost effectiveness. Suphajee Suthumpun, Chairman of the Executive Committee and Chief Executive Officer stated that, “2014 is another year we can be proud of as Thaicom has overcame challenges on entering into the new frontiers. We has successfully launched THAICOM 6 and THAICOM 7 into the orbits, which serve the broadcast industry. We has expanded our markets, created new innovations in terms of financial and business in response to the needs of our customers. We have formed up new business partnerships and developed the end-to-end solutions for existing and new customers.” In 2014, the Company generated a normalized net profit of Baht 1,832 million, an increase of Baht 704 million or 62.4% in 2013 as a result of the revenue growth from the satellite business, telephone and Internet businesses, and the media business, together with the cost effectiveness; the Company’s core Satellite operations contributed 88%. Thaicom's success in 2014 has driven national macro economy in recent years continually while supporting the growth of Thailand telecommunications and broadcasting. Thaicom had been recognized at both global and Asia-Pacific landscape as it launched the maritime satellite broadband services for Ocean Trans, a leading Japanese maritime transport company; the MCONNECT application in cooperation with MCOT which allows for simultaneous second-screen viewing of programming, the first for Thailand; the In-flight Connectivity services, the first in Asia, for Thailand's domestic airlines, Nok Air, in utilizing Ku-band transponders on Thaicom's satellites at the speed equal to 3G, stable services for the passengers; the issuance of bonds by Thaicom to finance present and future projects – the issue was over-subscribed; the leading role Thaicom took in bringing to South East Asia for the first time ever, the NASA traveling exhibition, “NASA – A Human Adventure” including the Satellite Executive of the Year in Asia Pacific Award of APSCC – Asia Pacific Satellite Communications Council. All these key achievements have proved the trust of the investors and shareholders in Thaicom's strong fundamentals and potential for future growth. During 2015, Thaicom will have delivered new initiatives through its "Connecting the Future" Strategy. To cope with the challenges and changes in today's world, Thaicom will develop the services to connect and engage all key stakeholders by Connecting People at all levels to create cooperation and joint success; Connecting technology by improving its expertise in satellite communications technology to go beyond the limits; and Connecting opportunity by developing its network of businesses and partnerships to explore new opportunities for expansion for a strong, good governance growth. In other areas of the Company’s operations, its internet and media subsidiary, CS Loxinfo posting a consolidated profit of 400 million Baht. Lao Telecom (LTC), the Company’s telephone operation in the Lao PDR, has maintained its satisfactorily service quality and telephone network by increasing the mobile phone subscribers to 15% and still being ranked No.1 with 46.93% market share. The Company’s revenue from telephone and Internet services in Lao PDR in 2014 was Baht 1,076 million, 28.6% growth from 2013, which is the highest growth rate since established.
