Bangkok--12 Mar--World Vision Foundation of Thailand Mr Pichai Kaewsuwan, a specialist from Office of the Private Education Commission and Mrs Chitra Thumborisuth, National Director of World Vision Foundation of Thailand (WVFT) handed out plaques and certificates to 72 schools in recognition of their participation in ‘The Heart of Giving’ project throughout the 2014 academic year. The ceremony took place at the WVFT Training Centre recently. Entering its 7th anniversary, The Heart of Giving project asks students to save up their money for 2 months and donate it to help underprivileged children through WVFT’s projects. For the academic year 2014, a portion of the donation is allocated to the ‘Child Sponsorship Programme’ where 253 impoverished children, their families and communities will receive educational and livelihood assistance. The donation also goes to ‘The Breakfast for Kids’ project to provide 24,104 nutritious morning meals to children across 8 districts in 7 provinces in Thailand’s north and northeastern regions. As part of his opening speech, Mr Pichai said, “Students who joined ‘The Heart of Giving’ project should feel proud as this honour will always stay with them. Please keep up your good deeds and thank you WVFT for organising such a valuable project.” Mrs Chitra added, “Thank you teachers and students for showing your spirit of giving. You have instilled in the younger generation a sense of compassion and altruism. This year’s donation will surely transform the lives of poor children, improving their education and health.” WVFT would like to extend our deepest gratitude and admiration to all schools for being excellent role models in promoting strong morality and ethics in students.
