Bangkok--17 Mar--Brand Now
From concert tickets to birthday cakes, coffee table, piano or pets, this logistic app promises to deliver or move anything anywhere and anytime
Have documents to send but can’t find a reliable messenger? Need to donate a sofa to charity organization but unable to find a reasonably priced truck delivery service?
lalamove, a Hong Kong-based delivery matching mobile application promises to deliver or move anything anywhere anytime– with professional, reliable drivers and transparent pricing.
“With lalamove, things will start moving so quickly you can’t help but sing along,” said Santit Jirawongkraisorn, Co-Founder and Managing Director of lalamove Thailand.
Founded in October 2013 in Hong Kong by serial entrepreneur Shing-Yuk Chow, under the original name EasyVan, lalamove (rebranded in November 2014) is Asia’s answer to an on-demand express and 24-hour delivery service.
The app is available to download for free on both iOS and android in Hong Kong, China (Guangzhou and Shenzhen), Singapore, Bangkok and most recently, Taiwan.
As of January this year, the number of registered users regionally has grown to 315,000 while over 20,000 drivers have been registered. The app has been downloaded more than a quarter million times in the past year.
The number of download in Thailand is currently 12,000 and lalamove expects to deliver thousands of orders daily by end of 2015.
lalamove allows personal users and businesses to quickly find a professional driver anytime of the day to help move their goods with a few clicks on their smartphone. By typing the vehicle type, location, destination, the weight of the physical goods, and other information and special instructions via the app, users will be notified within minutes if a driver is available.
lalamove features driver verification, a driver rating system, a GPS tracking which allows full transparency on the route, on-demand booking and an insurance protection of up to Baht 2000 for each delivery, ensuring that delivery via lalamove is both easy and safe. It is also the only logistics app offering 24/7 service.
In Bangkok, lalamove was launched on a beta trial in late November last year and has received positive feedback, said Santit.
“People love us for our speed and convenience, as we offer a different type of service, which focuses on on-demand, instant, and last-minute delivery for personal users, small and large businesses.”
lalamove’s fleet in Bangkok currently comprises of motorcycles, vans and MPVs, pick-up trucks and will soon be adding other types of delivery vehicles.
Customers are charged a nominal fixed base fare plus distance charge. For delivery of documents or parcels not exceeding 20 kgs on motorcycles, fares start at Baht 60. Fares on vans and MPVs for delivery of goods or parcels up to 100 kgs, start at Baht 300, while delivery of goods, furniture and parcels up to 1000 kgs via pick-up truck starts at Baht 600. These fares exclude long distance surcharges, special handling charges, additional stops, after hours surcharges (after 9pm), additional services and others.
lalamove targets personal users as well as home-based businesses and SMEs, that don't have their own fleets, lack delivery capacity to handle their demand, or who have trouble managing their logistics. Clients include several online and e-commerce businesses in the fashion and food industry, including a number of bakeries. Popular chef-cum-fitness trainer Puri “Rock” Hassadin and DJ Poom use lalamove for their food delivery business.
Santit hopes lalamove’s technology will enable increased efficiency and transparent pricing in a highly fragmented logistic market in Thailand.
“We want to bring international standards and world-class delivery service to the Thai logistics market. We also aim to create more job opportunities for drivers by helping them earn additional income. Through our platform, they can get more jobs, earn more money, be their own boss, and have zero costs of searching for customer,” added Santit.
Early this year, lalamove raised USD10 million in Series A from a group of investors to strengthen its brand and fund its expansion into Southeast Asia and China to become the region's leader in mobile logistics bookings.
