Earth Hour is a global environmental movement of the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) that provides an opportunity for millions of people around the world to make a stand against global warming and climate change that have started showing significant effects on our environment. By reducing our energy consumption and making small changes in our daily lives, we can make a difference in the effects of global warming.
Earth Hour began seven years ago in Sydney, Australia, with the hope that the world could make a stand against climate change. As of 2014, the event has grown to become the world’s largest mass participation event in history involving more than 162 countries and 7,000 cities and towns. The movement is collectively supported by millions of individuals, organizations and governments.
