The New Everyday means the right white shirt, the perfect cropped trouser, the crisp little piqué striped jacket, the kick-flare jean. The new proportions are leaner, longer and easier, whispering the 1970s but speaking of today’s sophisticated urban woman and how she dresses. That’s why denim is so central to the mix – tailored in a smart indigo trench, zip-thru bomber and luxury jeans right through to photographic silk prints of distressed denim and true-blue off-duty styles.
Bohemian Utility continues the effortless-elegant approach. It’s all about a hint of the season’s uniforms in khaki tailored army pants, our leg-lengthening utility jumpsuit and a great army green shirt-dress. The twist comes in working pretty white cotton devoré with a military jacket, a tribal stripe basket-weave raffia skirt with a crisp white shirt,a sweet white cotton blouse with our KM leather jacket, now rocking leather fringes.
The Power of the Hand recalls Karen Millen’s design ethos - hand-crafted with impeccable quality and finish. Our designers looked to artists like Rothko and Bridget Riley for inspiration and translated their work into beautiful prints – brush-stroke silk t-shirts or painterly bold floral on a swishy jumpsuit. Graphic ribbon appliqué also appears on a fit and flare white dress and a special jacquard was created, as if hand-painted, on a dramatic black and red prom dress.
As ever, the accessories continue to evolve with the clothes: Bags are softer and more supple in large white perforated totes, cool zippered back-packs or tassled bucket bags. And flat clutches add a pop of colour, as does the new two-tone work bag. Shoes, meanwhile, reflect the current pace of life – go-fast flats in bright and stripes and smart boyish lace-ups have a feminine touch with pretty perforations. As for height, it’s easily gained with chunky espadrille-soled sandals and block-heeled mules.
