Multi-award wins for this year’s Aon Hewitt Best Employers Asia campaign
Other accolades include “Best Employer” Asia Pacific, as well as “Best Employer” honors forChina, Indonesia, Malaysia, South Korea, Taiwan and Thailand
DHL Express, the world's leading international express service provider, has been awarded “Best Employer 2015 -Thailand” honors by Aon Hewitt, a global leader in human resource consulting and outsourcing solutions. Additionally, DHL is named the “Regional Best Employer” on top of receiving the “Best Employer” awards for China, Indonesia, Malaysia, South Korea, Taiwan and Thailand.
A panel of independent judges, analyzing companies in Asia Pacific, studied how these organizations create a real competitive advantage through their employees. In reviewing all the applicants, AON Hewitt focused its data-driven methodology on four core elements underlying a ‘Best Employer’ status. These are Employee Engagement; Compelling Employer Brand; Effective Leadership and a High-Performance Culture.
Jerry Hsu, CEO of DHL Express Asia Pacific, said, “DHL is honored to have won these awards for both Asia Pacific and several key markets in this region. With an over 22,000-strong workforce in this region, we firmly believe that our employees are an integral and key driving force behind our success. DHL remains very much a people-oriented organization and are very proud of having the best, most-engaged employees in our industry.”
The methodology for the study is based on three data points: the alignment between the CEO’s strategic goals; HR’s inputs on programs that meet these goals; the employee voice. As part of the assessment process, all organizations have to complete three questionnaires: An Employee Opinion Survey to measure the engagement and satisfaction level of the staffs; a CEO Questionnaire and Interview to collect their views on the business and third-party’s perspective of the organization; a People Practices Inventory which highlights each organization’s HR practices.
Yasmin Aladad Khan, Senior Vice President, DHL Express South East Asia and South Asia, said, “One of DHL Express’ aspirations is to be an Employer of Choice, which we believe is vital to attracting and retaining the best talents. We continue to invest significantly in employee development programs and practices, such as the award-winning Certified International Specialist (CIS) training program. Furthermore, we remain strongly committed to providing the very best working environment and career opportunities for all of our staff.”
Delivered to over 100,000 employees in more than 220 countries and territories worldwide, DHL’s CIS program has been designed first and foremost to nurture a high engagement work culture within DHL Express. CIS has reshaped the entire organization, empowering our employees to be part of the growth story, equipping them with the requisite knowledge of all relevant facets of the international express business and skills to propel their own careers.
Chananyarak Phetcharat, Managing Director, DHL Express Thailand and Indochina, commented, “These awards reflect strong recognition from third party validators, including independent judges who are experts in human resources management. We realize that by creating an emotional connection with our employees emphasizing on “Heart and Meaning” helps to drive great financial results, foster a high-performance culture and make the ‘impossible possible’. As a critical appointment holder of the company, it is of paramount importance that everyone is rowing the boat in the right direction to achieve optimum results. We also believe that the more people are empowered, the more they will be motivated to deliver against today’s constantly changing expectations. By making engagement and motivation a central theme of learning and development programs, we can foster a customer-centric culture more easily and become ‘Best Employer’ too.”
In 2013, Aon Hewitt named DHL’s Express division as “Best Employer” for Asia Pacific, while DHL Express Thailand, Indonesia and Korea each received country specific “Best Employer” award. These accolades were followed by “Top MNC for Leaders in Southeast Asia” for DHL Express in 2014. Meanwhile, DHL Express Thailand was also recognized for its best-in-class talent management and leadership practices in the same year.
