Bangkok--16 Apr--Thaicom
Thaicom PLC., in conjunction with the Royal Thai Army, has renewed its commitment to the Thai Kids Thaicom project with 300 satellite dishes and set-top-boxes for rural schools along the country’s western border in order to improve overall education standards.
The equipment was presented to Senior Colonel Sarawut Chaiyasith by Thaicom’s Chief Marketing Officer Patompob Suwansiri at a handing over ceremony. Thaicom has a long standing relationship with the military having provided officers with satellite installation training courses.
Thaicom provides satellite business solutions and innovative technology based on its core competency in satellite networking and technology. It also strives to instill strong, social responsibility values across the company, ensuring strong growth and sustainable development.
Two areas in which Thaicom has focused its social responsibility efforts are Education Support and Community Development, as well as Disaster Recovery programs. The Education Support program provides children – particularly those in remote areas – with satellite dishes and television to bring their educational experience up to the standard of their urban counterparts. The Community Development and Disaster Recovery scheme aims to not only provide an effective response to disasters, but also ensure a better quality of life for communities.
Thaicom has created value for the company’s stakeholders through its CSR activities. These include the Satellite Saves Lives project in cooperation with the Thai Red Cross Society, Royal Thai Air Force, Royal Thai Navy and Royal Thai Army. The project educates people on the role that Thaicom’s satellites play in preparing for and responding to a crisis situation. In addition, Thaicom’s Mobility Service provides broadband connectivity and crew welfare to the Royal Thai Navy ship H.T.M.S. Krabi; and the creation of an extraordinary space experience through a world-class exhibition called NASA – A Human Adventure, which has come to South East Asia for the first time.
