To attain Safehotels certification, a hotel must demonstrate in principle and practice a thoroughgoing commitment to safety and security. Radisson Blu Plaza Bangkok has done precisely that in becoming the first Asia-Pacific hotel to achieve this coveted endorsement. Moreover, Radisson Blu Plaza Bangkok likewise is one of only seven Carlson Rezidor Hotel Group hotels to achieve a Premium certificate.
In December 2014, Carlson Rezidor Hotel Group signed an agreement with globally recognized consultancy Safehotels Alliance AB, making Carlson Rezidor the first major international hotel group using the acclaimed independent certification program. Radisson Blu Plaza Bangkok’s participation is the 15th of 70 in a series of planned certifications within Carlson Rezidor. The hotel completed the Safehotels official certification process and, having far exceeded all evaluation criteria, was awarded Premium level certification.
Among reasons cited by Safehotels in conferring Premium certification were:
1) Auditor assessment that Radisson Blu Plaza Bangkok’s documentation and record keeping are equal to the best Safehotels has seen anywhere in the world. For example, documents relating to fire drills, first aid and indeed all matters pertaining to safety and security were deemed particularly outstanding.
2) Physical structure including overall building design as well as components such as control room/fire control panel, emergency response room and generator room were rated world class.
