Bangkok--12 May--Grayling Thailand
DKSH, the leading Market Expansion Services provider with a focus on Asia, and Levi’sฎ celebrated its proud association with Levi’sฎ 501ฎ by launching the premium Levi’sฎ 501ฎ MADE IN JAPAN SPECIAL EDITION in Thailand.
DKSH Thailand, the exclusive franchisee and distributor of Levi’s® in Thailand, has launched the premium Levi’s® 501® MADE IN JAPAN SPECIAL EDITION in Thailand. Combining premium denim fabric and detailed Japanese hand-craftsmanship, such as traditional boro stitching, chain stich embroidery, destructing, patching and repair, the special Levi’s® 501® edition is imported from Japan into Thailand – only 235 pairs will be available for sale in Thailand.
For this season, the collection features a collaboration between the Levi’s® design team and Japan based artists. The “Made in Japan” collection is fully constructed in Japan, featuring Japanese fabrics and sundries, and finished in a Japan laundry. In terms of fabric, the “Made in Japan” collection features Selvedge fabric - Selvedge refers to the natural edges of a roll of fabric that is less likely to unravel, curl or fray. To produce a tighter, denser fabric finish for enhanced strength, the Levi’s® “Made in Japan” Selvedge denim was woven on traditional, narrow shuttle looms. In addition, the “Made in Japan” denim has its own unique look, feel and colour intensity. Using a traditional Japanese fabric dying process, the yarn is placed in an indigo bath, removed and exposed to the air – this oxidization produces a deep, indigo blue colour.
The “Made in Japan special edition” is notable as well for cool customised details such as hand-made patching and repair patches, and chain stitching embroidery in each hem. The jeans are also finished with a distinctive red stitching. The back pocket also imitates the pocket shape used in the 1960s. A cool vintage graphic screen-printed in the pocket lining is another design nod to the proud history of Levi’s®.
They are a true collector’s item for Levi’s® lovers, with only 235 pairs being imported into Thailand. It’s this exclusivity which makes the THB 9,190 price tag more of an investment than a retail price. The ‘Made in Japan’ collection can be purchased from 10 original Levi’s® stores located in The Mall Bangkapi, Terminal 21, Central World, Siam Center, Central Rama 9, Central Rama 2, Mega Bangna, Central Embassy, Seacon Square, Fashion Island and 5 Levi’s counters at the Mall Ladprao, the Mall Bangkapi, Emquartier, Emporium and Siam Paragon.
To celebrate the debut of the “Made in Japan” collection in Thailand, Levi’s® is offering a 20% discount to customers purchasing 501® jeans on May 1. This discount will apply to 501® jeans and other items from May 2 to May 31.
