This year marks Jetstar Asia’s 10 years of flying to Bangkok, the milestone coinciding with the Jetstar Group’s 11th birthday celebrations this month, bringing over a decade of great value, low fares and innovation to travellers.
Jetstar Asia commenced operations from Singapore to Bangkok in March 2005 with 14 weekly services and strong customer demand has seen this grow to up to 35 weekly services today.
The Jetstar Group currently operate up to 52 flights a week to Bangkok with three of its airlines – Jetstar Asia, Jetstar Australia and New Zealand and Jetstar Pacific - bringing more travellers from Singapore, Australia and Vietnam to the popular Thai destination.
Jetstar Asia CEO Barathan Pasupathi said the airline was pleased to have played a role in transforming the nature of travel in the region.
“Airfares for THB2299 or lower have changed the way that people travel - they travel more often, for more reasons and to destinations that they may have never previously considered,” said Mr Pasapathi.
“Bangkok is a destination that Singaporeans return to time and time again and it is not surprising that the route is one of the busiest LCC routes in the world.
Jetstar Asia was recently named the AsiaOne People’s Choice for best low cost carrier in 2015 for the third year running.
“We look forward to continuing to invest in innovations, like our straight-to-gate in Suvarnabhumi Airport to create fantastic travel experiences for our customers,” he added.
In Thailand, before the arrival of low cost carriers, travel was far less accessible, said Mrs Wanida Hongsunirandon of Holiday Tours & Travel (GSA) Ltd.“In the last ten years, Jetstar Asia’s low fares have not only opened up travel to Singapore but have provided Thai travellers greater direct access to more destinations across Asia,” said Mrs Wanida.
Last year, Jetstar Asia added daily services from Bangkok to Fukuoka and Jetstar Pacific recently launched services from Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi to Bangkok, opening up new opportunities for customers in Thailand to experience more of the low fares promise.
Jetstar Airways currently operate up to three weekly return services from Melbourne to Bangkok and was the first LCC B787 Dreamliner operator in the region to fly its aircraft into Thailand.
