Ever since the debut of GPSC in SET, the Company has been relentlessly going ahead with its power plant expansion both internationally and domestically. Global Power Synergy Public Company Limited President Mr. Noppadol Pinsupa recently reveals another progress, obtaining EIA approval for its fourth Co-generation Power Plant in Rayong.
This Combined Cycle Power Plant is called CUP 4 (Central Utility Plant 4) since it is the fourth facility of GPSC that produces and provides not only electrical power but also steam and demineralized water which can be used in factories. GPSC CUP4 is located in Asia Industrial Estate, Rayong. The capacity will be 40 megawatt with steam of 70 ton per hour, responding to needs of industrial facilities both in Asia Industrial Estate and nearby industrial parks.
“GPSC CUP4 in Rayong –a co-generation power plant, using natural gas as a source of power- can offer products, electrical power steam and demineralized water- that can all be used to benefit our clients production process, which considered very efficiency and high return on investment. The investment of CUP4 values 3,670 million baht. Obtaining approval of EIA, GPSC will thus start the construction and expect the first phase to be in operation by 2017,” explains the president. “Additionally, this CUP 4 is designed to have power and steam distribution tie-up with other GPSC CUPs in order to enhance the stability of our production and distribution.”
Currently, GPSC already have four power plants fueling industrial facilities of its clienteles and enhancing the economic development of the country both through EGAT and direct contact. Its power plant portfolio in Thailand consists of one power plant in Sriracha and three CUPs in Rayong.
