Recently, Mr. Noppadol Pinsupa, President of Global Power Synergy Public Company Limited (GPSC), a leading electricity, steam, and public utility supplier in Thailand, under PTT Group, together with co-developers from Marubeni Corporation and EDEN Group, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to conduct a feasibility study for a gas-fired power generation project in Thanlyin, Myanmar. The 400 MW power plant will help support Myanmar’s energy stability in Yangon, which has seen a significant growth in energy demand both from the public sector and the industry, such as in the Thilawa Special Economic Zone (SEZ) and an oil refinery development project that PTT Group is auctioning for.
This project is another key addition to GPSC’s project development portfolio in Myanmar, which include a coal-fired and a gas-fired power projects. Altogether, GPSC is developing nearly 3,000MW capacity with project partners. The company actively seeks opportunities for more power plants and utility plants in ASEAN countries and in Thailand to stimulate ASEAN region’s economy as a whole.
