Dow Thailand represented by Siriporn Phuangmarayat, Human Resources Director presented a 500,000-baht scholarship to Maptaphut Technical College at Office of the Vocational Education Commission. The scholarship is granted to support educational program under Vocational Chemical Engineering Practice College (V-ChEPC)’s petrochemical engineering program development project led by Petrochemical Industry Club, and the Federation of Thai Industries. Since 2009, Dow Thailand has provided financial support to this program totaling 5.5 million.
The V-ChEPC educational program is built on the principle of Constructionism with the aim to develop life skills, such as analytical and problem solving skills and continuous learning, on top of technical knowledge that can also be applied in the workplace. The program was considered by Office of the National Economics and Social Development Board and UNESCO to be the prototype program used nationally and internationally. The program was founded in 2008 and now at Phase 3 with more than 200 graduates. To date, the program’s graduates have 100% successful rate in work placement and receive relatively higher salary comparing to other candidates who graduated from the same educational level.
