Bangkok--22 Jun--Siam Commercial Bank
Siam Commercial Bank PCL (SCB) and the Federation of Thai Industries (FTI) are organizing an eleventh SCB-FTI Factory Outlet Fair featuring some 200 Thai SME booths offering quality products to consumers at special prices with discounts up to 40%. The fair aims to promote business opportunities for Thai small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and offer value shopping for consumers to boost domestic consumption. Expected to generate revenues of up to 18 million baht, the 11th SCB-FTI Factory Outlet Fair will run for 5 days during June 22 -26, 2015 from 9.00 am to 6.00 pm at Mahisorn Hall at the SCB Head Office.
SCB President Yol Phokasub remarked, “SCB is committed to continuously supporting our SME clients. Amid the current economic situation, we realize the hardship our clients are facing so we seek to offer measures and activities to help them run their business effectively as usual. Our support ranges from business financial support and boosting Thai SMEs' capabilities for sustainable growth through seminars and training courses to marketing and distribution support through SCB-FTI Factory Outlet Fairs. This is to reiterate SCB's commitment to stand by and fully support our clients in every situation. More and more SMEs are interested in joining us at the fair, and this year there are some 200 booths. We expect total revenues of 18 million baht from this 5-day event.”
According to FTI Chairman Supant Monkolsuthree, “The SME sector is no less a key contributor to Thailand's economy than large corporations. The problems they face that should not be overlooked include a lack of funds and fierce competition. To offset negative impacts from exports, SMEs need an appropriate channel for domestic marketing and distribution, as well as branding. The SCB-FTI Factory Outlet Fair is among the cooperative activities between SCB and the FTI that seek to help and promote SMEs facing hardship amid the current economic conditions. The fairs offer a channel for SMEs to promote and sell their new products to stimulate the market and boost domestic liquidity. The SCB-FTI Factory Outlet Fairs have become increasingly successful over the years as events that both sellers and buyers keenly look forward to. We are glad to see the fair becoming more and more successful.”
“SMEs joining the 11th SCB-FTI Factory Outlet Fair are members of the FTI and GS1 Thailand or SCB clients in Bangkok and other provinces. Buyers can enjoy shopping at cheaper prices as products at the fair are sold directly from factories. What's more, shoppers can get product details instantly from SmartBar, a free application from GS1 Thailand by just downloading the app and scanning product barcodes to see product information on their smartphone screens. Product information is also linked to other agencies such as the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), the Office of the Consumer Protection Board (OCPB), and the Halal Standard Institute of Thailand, etc. The app is also a channel to promote the value and reliability of products and boost customer confidence in buying them from Thai SMEs,” Supant added.
