Bangkok--31 Jul--Sofitel Bangkok Sukhumvit Event: Art Exhibition: 'Out of Curiosity' Venue: S Gallery Lobby Level, Sofitel Bangkok Sukhumvit Tel: 02-1269999 Dates: Now – 6th September, 2015 Time : From 10 a.m. – 10 p.m. Artist: Bruno Tanquerel S Gallery, Sofitel Bangkok Sukhumvit, recently launched its new French art exhibition of Bruno Tanquerel's 'Out of Curiosity'. The exhibition presents the works of Bruno Tanquerel, a talented French artist who has been living in Bangkok for 15 years. His paintings and sculptures are a celebration of fantasy. Humour and sadness coincide in his assemblages; a mixture of familiarity and imagination. This art bears eloquent witness to Tanquerel's life experience and to his sensitive observation of human comedy. His unique iconography may be understood as a form of poetic metaphor expressed with a system of private signs. This is art which is technically inventive. Tanquerel never accepts or recognizes formal limitations. His aesthetic is a pastiche of styles in which categories become blurred. Fusion of abstraction and figuration result in a gesture of line which transforms the ordinary and everyday into dramatic theatricality. Mr.William Haandrikman, General Manager of Sofitel Bangkok Sukhumvit said recently, "S Gallery is inspired by French art and design as part of the Sofitel's three pillars philosophy. The space hosts rotating exhibitions by emerging and established Thai and French artists. On Thursday 18th June it was wonderful to see so many art lovers enjoying a stimulating evening of art and culture at Bruno Tanquerel's well-received exhibition, 'Out of Curiosity." The imaginative work will be displayed at S Gallery until 6th September 2015. 'Out of Curiosity' Building on his French heritage, Tanquerel has created a vitalized theology in which intellect and wit meet and coalesce in the realm of fantasy. Living most of his adult life in Paris, Tanquerel has witnessed firsthand to the art of great masters. A close affinity can be drawn with the art of Paul Klee who endeavoured to translate his visual meanings of an isolated and detached society through highly whimsical, deliberate child-like, raw hieroglyphs. Tanquerel, like Klee, searches for a means to represent the essence of human relationships through abstract pictorial expressive lines and inventive spaces. Tanquerel celebrates human relationships and the relevance of small intimate encounters instead of focusing on mass society with its psychological isolation and its complex political, economical, and architectural structures. His imagination seeks positive answers at a time when man's tragic predicament is explicitly in the spotlight.
