Mr. Karl Hudson, Area Vice President of Southeast Asia, Marriott International is delighted to announce the appointment of Khun Aekphon Photiphrom as the new General Manager of Renaissance Koh Samui Resort & Spa – a Marriott Luxury Lifestyle Hotel - effective of 6 July 2015. A true Marriott blood, Khun Aekphon has been with the family for 14 years having been part of the opening teams for JW Marriott Phuket Resort & Spa as Assistant Director of Food & Beverage, Opening Director of Operations at Courtyard by Marriott Bangkok and the stylish Renaissance Phuket Resort & Spa as Director of Operations. In 2012, Khun Aekphon transferred to London as Director of Rooms Operations at St. Pancras Renaissance London Hotel followed by his most recent role as Director of Operations at London Marriott Hotel Grosvenor Square from September 2013.
In these years, we've known him to be one of eclectic taste in life with the flair for travelling and discovering new places. He shares with us his joy in riding bikes, trekking and gardening. Art Deco speaks to him and hence would gain a piece or two to his collection. He enjoys playing as much as he does watching football, sails out whenever he gets the chance and pops in a European crime thriller or choice of Scandinavian Noir film every now and then but always made it very clear how family plays a significant role in his life.
"My Mother was one of the first Thai Executive Housekeepers for an international hotel chain which I am following in her footsteps until today and I'm very proud to have her as my inspiration," expresses Khun Aekphon. One would normally find him in a calmer observant and reflecting demeanor with a solid set of experience to weather through challenges. His lengthy list of awards most notably Hotel of the year in 2005's Asia Pacific General Manager Conference, Manager of Operations of the Year at Marriott International Courtyard General Manager Conference in 2008 and awarded Asia Pacific Operations Summit's Leader of the Year in 2012 serves as a proven track record to his dedication and commitment for driving results.The team is thrilled to have Khun Aekphon as the new leader and takes pride in his success to raise the profile of Thai nationals in the industry.
