Chevron and Kenan Institute continues to enhance youth learning experience under “Caltex Fuel Your School II” Campaign

Bangkok--6 Aug--Chevron Chevron (Thailand) Limited and Kenan Institute Asia (KIA) today announced the launch of “Caltex Fuel Your School” an innovative education-focused community project aimed at enhancing the learning of core subjects through project-based learning model - in Sa Kaeo province. Over 200 students will be expected to benefit from this initiative. The launch was presided over byMr. Pakaratorn Tienchai Sa Kaeo Governor and over 100 attendees including students, teachers, representatives from the government, KIA and Chevron were present. Speaking at the launch, Mr. Salman Saadat, Country Chairman and General Manager Products, Chevron (Thailand) Limited, marketer of Caltex brand said, “Caltex Fuel Your School” is part of Chevron's global “Energy for Learning” Initiative to support learning-based programs which create opportunities for individuals to acquire new knowledge, gain new skills or be exposed to different ways of thinking. In 2014, “Caltex Fuel Your School” Campaign was successfully launched to 622 students in 7th and 8th grade from 31 educational opportunity expansion schools in Khon Kaen, Udonthani and Nong Khai province. The first year campaign had gained strong cooperation and support from all involved parties including local retailers and employees who volunteered to participate in the campaign activities. In addition, motorists also had a chance to support the schools in the communities and their local students with their fuel purchase at Caltex service stations in the area. “After the successful launch last year, we have decided to continue with “Caltex Fuel Your School II” project this year with aims to enhance competency among youths and broaden their education opportunities through project-based learning model which will help developing scientific thinking, systematic problem-based learning and communication skills for students while motivating them to relate subject knowledge in the area of health, environment, and safety to their daily lives.This year project targets 200 students in 7th and 8th grade from 10 schools in Sa Kaeo province during May to December 2015.The group representatives will attend workshops and activities to develop their skills in developing and presenting their project works. They will then train their team members to work on the project of their choice and submit for competition with a chance to win scholarship and other prizes.” Mr. Piyabutr Cholvijarn, KIA’s President, added that “Caltex Fuel Your School II” this year continued to receive a strong support from the national and regional educational organizations. KIA, as the project manager, will continue with its best effort to improve Caltex Fuel Your School II campaign so as to enhance the students’ learning experience and enable them to effectively cope with the dynamic and fast changing environment. “Caltex Fuel Your School II” is in line with KIA operational concept emphasizing on fostering the student capabilities in analytical thinking, problem solving and communication skill. Therefore, building a solid educational foundation is crucial for the students to survive in today competitive and borderless market especially while the country is moving towards AEC (Asean Economic Community) at the end of 2015” added Mr. Piyabutr.
