PEA opens Thailand Lighting Fair 2015

Bangkok--19 Aug--DC Consultants & Marketing Communications The Provincial Electricity Authority (PEA) together with Messe Frankfurt, The ExhibiZ and other supporting organisations today opened the Thailand Lighting Fair 2015, which is expected to be the most advanced and comprehensive trade fair on electric lighting in ASEAN. Supported by the Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau (TCEB), the fair presents the latest lighting products and innovations from more than 200 local and international companies/brands, as well as installation art created by renowned lighting designers, light performances showing the interconnection between light and city, and seminars and workshops led by professional luminaries. The Thailand Lighting Fair 2015 will continue until 21 August 2015 at Hall 106 of the Bangkok International Trade and Exhibition Centre (BITEC). The PEA’s Governor Sermsakool Klaikaew said the fair aimed to promote the use of energy-efficient lighting technologies in all sectors of society, by encouraging an exchange of knowledge about how to save energy, offering a complete range of relevant products and solutions, and sparking ideas about how to apply lighting innovations for specific purposes. These will help to foster energy and environmental sustainability, support economic growth and be part of the effort to establish Thailand as the ASEAN’s hub for energy-saving lighting solutions. Currently, Thailand’s lighting market is valued at 30 billion baht, with a continuing growth partly as a result of the growing adoption of energy-saving products, especially the LED bulbs of which users are mainly in the business, industrial and property sectors. Households have also increasingly switched to LED bulbs because of the more affordable prices. Market share for LED products is expected to soar to 50% in the next few years. In the run-up to the fair, publisher and one of the fair’s media partners GM Group had launched Lighting Focus – Thailand’s first magazine dedicated to the latest updates in the lighting industry, to be issued every four months. The Thailand Lighting Fair 2015 features lighting innovations from more than 200 leading companies and brands from Thailand and other parts of Asia such as Japan, Taiwan, China and India. Exhibitors include Philips, TP HALO, LED Lighting, K Bright, LED Korea, NEX, Eve Lighting, LED Spectrum, Lamptan and Skylight. Products on display cover a wide variety of luminaries and lamps, decorative lights, LED products, accessories and components, as well as technologies for outdoor and urban lighting, residential lighting and smart lighting. Information about the testing and certification of lighting system for the industrial and commercial sectors is also provided. One of the highlight activities is a showcase of lighting installations created by five famous lighting designers, namely Dr. Acharawan Chutarat, Mr. Chanat Chotitayangkul, Ms.Tippaya Prasertsuk, Mr.Puay Silpanon and Asst. Prof. Dr. Chanyaporn Chuntamara, with the theme of “Light Inspiration”. There are also light performances with the “Luminapolis”: Light + City concept to show that lighting gives more than brightness to a city. The programme includes seminars and workshops led by Thai and international lighting experts, on various topics such as global lighting design trends, urban lighting, Feng Shui and lighting, lighting and its use in sales promotion and customer experience, influence of lighting on working efficiency, LED technology and innovation of the future, and case studies in lighting design. Pakwan Jiamjiroj, General Manager of The ExhibiZ Co Ltd, said the Thailand Lighting Fair 2015 would broaden the perspective on energy-efficient lighting innovations for people who work in building design and construction, power users in the commercial and industrial sectors, entrepreneurs, central and local officials, energy-related organisations’ staff and the general public. There would be a networking party for architects and lighting and interior designers on the first day of the fair, as well as networking golf activities for entrepreneurs in industrial estates and local administrations’ officials to generate a positive relationship between the event organisers and relevant sectors. The fair is expected to receive more than 10,000 visitors from Thailand, Japan, China, Taiwan, Myanmar, Cambodia and Vietnam.
