Thai Airways International Public Company Limited (THAI) arranged special flights for Thai Muslims to attend the Hajj Pilgrimage in Saudi Arabia, whereby the first flight departed from Hat Yai International Airport and Narathiwat Airport to Medina Airport, Saudi Arabia on 16 August 2015. This year, THAI arranged 15 special flights for approximately 4,335 passengers participating in the pilgrimage.
Mr. Charamporn Jotikasthira, THAI President, said that THAI operated special flights from Narathiwat to Medina and Hat Yai to Medina in order to transport Thai Muslims from Southern Thailand to attend the Hajj Pilgrimage in Mecca, Saudi Arabia. The first flight on this route departed from Hat Yai International Airport at 8:00 hours and from
Narathiwat Airport at 11:35 hours on 16 August 2015, which was the first day of the pilgrimage. The Prime Minister and Hajj Committee of Thailand appointed THAI to organize 15 special flights during the Hajj. During 16 - 17 August 2015, four flights departed from Narathiwat Airport to Medina Airport. On 16 August 2015 and
18 – 22 August 2015, 11 flights departed from Hat Yai International Airport. During29 September to 13 October 2015, THAI will operate special return flights from Jeddah, Saudi Arabia to Thailand with Airbus A330-300 aircraft. THAI’s HALAL kitchen will prepare inflight meals that will be served on board and all HALAL meals are prepared with adherence to Islamic dietary requirements. THAI’s HALAL kitchen received HAL-Q certification for HALAL standards on all special flights.
