Bangkok--24 Aug--Heidelberg
- Cooperation with largest Chinese manufacturer of die cutters and folding carton gluing machines
- Improvement of competitiveness within the Postpress packaging market
Heidelberger Druckmaschinen AG and Masterwork Machinery (MK) Co., Ltd have signed an agreement and intend to enter into a strategic partnership for postpress business last year. For the Asian printing market, the upcoming Pack Print International 2015 during 26-29 August, at Heidelberg booth number Q01, BITEC, Bangkok, is a great opportunity to introduce this alliance in Asia. As a part of this agreement, Heidelberg is now responsible for the global sales and service activities for the Postpress equipment produced by MK for packaging printing. The collaboration between the two companies creates a basis for sustainable profitability in this growing market segment due to the connection of the strong reputation of Heidelberg in the industry as well as its knowledge of the market and the good relationship to customers with the powerful R&D department and the newly developed technologies of MK.
Masterwork’s factory impresses as modern, highly developed manufacturing location
The Masterwork owned factory for the production of its Postpress machines is located in Tianjin, which lies at one of China major harbors, just a couple hours away from Beijing. The factory is clean and shows no differences to European or American factories, in contrary to all prejudices against Chinese products and quality in general. The unique selling point of MK’s product line is its Duo system than combines a foiler and a die cutting platen in one device instead of offering both as single products. Blanking is also part of this system, and through this combination of multiple operations, the customer is able to save time compared to the use of several machines for different steps within one production process.
For today’s Asian packaging market
Of particular interest in the Asian markets is the companion to the Promatrix 106 CS, the MK Easymatrix 106 CS. The Promatrix 106 CS die cutter is ideal for short to medium production volumes and performs die cutting and embossing at a speed of 8,000 sheets per hour. The machine offers a wide range of standard features, extremely user-friendly operation, and an attractive price-performance ratio. The Easymatrix has a maximum running speed of 7,700 Sheets per hour compared to the 8,000 sheets per hour of the Promatrix. Both machines have the same format size but are bulit on different platforms.
With increased focus, in Asia, for highly decorated packaging the MK 1060ST, a feature filled Hot Foil Stamping die cutter is sure to be in demand, the MK 1060ST is capable of both longitudinal and transverse servo foil feeding using the latest computer controls to improve foil usage and reduce waste. Using the MK computer controlled foil feeding system holograms can be reliable and accurately applied.
Quality in today’s Asian packaging market is a given requirement and most modern printing presses are equipped with sophisticated print quality inspection systems. However after printing the final product has not been finished, there are still many processes to go, including die cutting, embossing, hot foil stamping and perhaps hologram application. With so many processes in the finishing of the product it is important that quality can be measured and assured. Again MK has the answer with their range of high performance Blank Inspection machines. Utilising the very latest in both line and area camera technology, combined with industry leading software the MK420Qmini and larger brother the MK550Qmini provide the answer for offline solutions.
“We see this partnership with MK is the right move for Heidelberg as a manufacturing supplier and for the Asian carton converting market. With their great technology of machines, and our excellence of sales and service network. Overall, this partnership creates great opportunities for both partners as well as for the customers within the Postpress packaging segment.” said Rene Ludvigsen, Chief Executive Officer of Heidelberg Asia Pacific.
