Thai bourse announces winners of 2015 economic contest for primary and high school levels

Bangkok--24 Aug--SET The Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET), together with partners, has announced the winners of "The Diamond Crown in Economics" contest for 2015, with Patcharamon Looprasert, a student from Anubannon School and Athikom Wanichkul from Triam Udom Suksa School receiving the HRH Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn Cup. This annual contest, organized for the seventh consecutive year, is one of SET's social and educational activities aiming to lay a strong foundation of economics, personal finance, insurance, plus the unique royal sufficiency economy philosophy among youth from primary to university levels. This year's competition for primary and high schools held during August 22-23 at Satree Wittaya School II, Bangkok, could attract 4,646 candidates from 1,025 schools nationwide. SET President Kesara Manchusree said this year’s event theme focused on providing economic knowledge in such a way as to prepare the young generation for the digital economy era, while laying a firm foundation for sustainable economy, reinforcing SET’s efforts to providing financial literacy and economics knowledge to youth continuously. The four gold medalists were: Punnawat Uthai from Suteetorn School (junior primary school level); Patcharamon Looprasert from Anubannon School (senior primary school level); Svita Taveeamornrat from Rajini School (junior high school level); and Athikom Wanichkul from Triam Udom Suksa School (senior high school level). In addition to the gold medal, each person was also awarded a certificate and a scholarship. The winners in the senior primary school level and senior high school level also received the HRH Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn Cup. In addition, the top three winners in the high school level, together with their teachers,would be specially granted study trips abroad. As for the last six competitions, the contest has successfully attracted 19,464 students from 5,042 schools nationwide. This year's youth competition was supported by Romchatra Foundation, the Ministry of Education, Chulalongkorn University's Faculty of Economics, Thai Life Assurance Association, The Crown Property Bureau, Commercial Bank Economic Intelligence Center, Capital Market Development Fund Foundation and President Bakery pcl. For university level, this year’s contest will be held at Chulalongkorn University's Faculty of Economics on October 11, 2015.
