Bangkok International Trade and Exhibition Centre (BITEC) has announced an exclusive partnership with TOT Public Company Limited to deliver a free wifi internet service throughout the exhibition centre. The agreement, which was signed on 21st August, 2015, will augment BITEC’s comprehensive list of existing products and services, adding value for event organisers and exhibitors as well as enhancing the visitors’ experience.
Mrs. Duangjai Thummachotigo, Acting Executive Vice President - Corporation Sales of TOT Public Co., Ltd. expressed appreciation for the trust and confidence that BITEC has given to TOT for the provision of TOT wifi services. TOT is one of the industry’s leading broadband service providers and its services will now be available to BITEC customers. The company aims to deliver a modern and convenient communications experience available anywhere, anytime and in response to the various needs of BITEC’s customers including local and international exhibitors and organisers. The Internet has become an integral part of contemporary life and requires a comprehensive network support system. A survey of Internet users in 2015 has shown that Internet usage among Thai people at every level of employment has increased since 2014. Smart phones are the devices with the highest number of Internet logins. The most popular uses of mobile devices include using social networks (82.7 percent), using search engines (56.6 percent) and receiving news updates (52.2 percent).
Mr. Apiruck Preechayasomboon, Executive Vice President - Fixed Line and Broadband Development of TOT Public Co., Ltd. said that this exclusive agreement would combine the competencies of BITEC, a leader in the conference and exhibition industry in Thailand and TOT, a leader in the telecommunications industry in Thailand to deliver a new telecommunications service model for the benefit of BITEC’s customers. With this collaboration, BITEC entrusts TOT to be the sole provider of wifi and related systems to service the high volume of visitors that attend the venue, covering both indoor and outdoor areas. TOT has invested a total of 30 million baht for the deal to deliver high-speed wifi service that will cover all public areas throughout BITEC, the 38,000 sqm. venue. The 5-year contract includes installation and onsite service of approximately 320 Access Points (APs). Installation is expected to be completed by 30th September, 2015.
In addition, BITEC will consider TOT as the first choice service provider for additional wifi network systems, which will be required to support the venue’s expansion in 2016. The result will be a seamless and high capacity wifi service for BITEC’s customers.
Ms. Panittha Buri, Managing Director of BITEC stated that as part of this official partnership, BITEC will become a certified network operator, providing further opportunities for partnerships with sub leads from other service providers. Visitors to BITEC will benefit from a more seamless and better quality internet service, which allows them to stay connected with social media and other online channels via mobile devices while attending events at the exhibition centre.
Most importantly, event organisers and exhibitors will benefit from a high quality wireless internet support service with additional paid options of event-specific SSIDs and customised user interfaces that reflect the look and feel of their event. This provides a new and valuable opportunity for organisers and exhibitors to promote their products and services and to communicate with event participants through personalised wifi systems, adding value to their events. The addition of comprehensive wifi network facilities will support BITEC’s rise to become one of the leading exhibition and convention venues in Asia.
