TBEC CWP Biogas Project first synchronized

Bangkok--25 Aug--Thai Biogas Energy TBEC CWP Biogas Project was first synchronized to the grid on 24th February, 2015.The project is the first large-scale biogas plant in Phang-Nga with a capacity of 2.8MWe. It is also the 8th biogas project by TBEC and was completed in 10 months witha budget of THB 190 million. The TBEC CWP Biogas Project is the first of a series of5 projects with a joint capacity of 20 MWe and investment cost of THB 1.1 billion(USD34 million) that TBEC is commissioning in 2015-2016 in South Thailand, an area that has suffered electricity blackouts due to demand clearly outstripping supply. The project was fully financed by ICBC Thai, with a guarantee from GuarantCo. Onthe heels of this latest success, GuarantCo has agreed to provide TBEC additionalguarantees of up to THB 565 million (USD 17 million) to support TBEC’s continuedgrowth in the Mekong region.Mr Gustaf Godenhielm, Managing Director of Thai Biogas Energy Co.,Ltd., said: “This event represents an important milestone in our 5-year plan to reach60 MWe capacity by 2020. I am particularly pleased about the swiftimplementation of the project in a remote location with very heavy rainfall,and the high biogas yield the project is achieving.”
