Embassy of China, Thai Red Cross, Artist Association of Thailand and China, and KBank to organize charity exhibition of Chinese brush calligraphy and painting arts

Bangkok--4 Sep--KASIKORNBANK The Embassy of the People's Republic of China in the Kingdom of Thailand, the Thai Red Cross Society, the Artist Association of Thailand and China, and KASIKORNBANK (KBank) will organize the"Charity Exhibition of Chinese Brush Calligraphy and Paintings to Commemorate the 40th Anniversary of the Establishment of Diplomatic Relations between China and Thailand, and the 60th Birth Anniversary of Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn", on September 18 at the Grand Hall, Plaza Athénée Bangkok. Mr. Chen Jiang, Culture Counselor, the Embassy of the People's Republic of China in the Kingdom of Thailand, said that the event will be hosted by the embassy and the Thai Red Cross Society to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Thailand, together with the 60th birth anniversary of HRH Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn. Coordinators and sponsors of the charity exhibition include KBank, the Artist Association of Thailand and China, China Federation of Literary and Art Circles and Chinese Brush Calligraphy Artists Association of Thailand. Sixty million Baht of proceeds from the sale of 60 calligraphic works and paintings, created by Chinese artists, will be presented to the princess for the Thai Red Cross Society's charitable work. Mr. Sawanit Kongsiri, Assistant Secretary General for External Relations, the Thai Red Cross Society, said the friendly and enduring Chinese-Thai relations have been deepened at all levels, namely the general public, business sector and government sector. The Thai Red Cross Society, of which the princess is Executive Vice-President, and the Red Cross Society of China are both international entities that serve the public interest, and have consistently strengthened their collaboration. This charity exhibition will fortify their ongoing partnership. Mr. Banthoon Lamsam, KBank Chairman of the Board, said Chinese-Thai relations have been broadened in several dimensions including the diplomatic, trade, and art and cultural fronts. KBank is delighted to take part in this event that promotes stronger ties between the two nations, and to commemorate the 60th birth anniversary of HRH Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn. The charity exhibition will be held on September 18, at the Grand Hall, Plaza Athénée Bangkok. The princess will graciously preside over the event and view the Chinese brush calligraphy and painting exhibition. The organizers will also present 60 million Baht in proceeds from the sale of 60 artworks to the princess, for the continuing charitable work of the Thai Red Cross Society. Mr. Paisan Chayavorakul, President of the Artist Association of Thailand and China, said the Artist Association of Thailand and China, China Federation of Literary and Art Circles and Chinese Brush Calligraphy Artists Association of Thailand have joined hands to showcase and sell 86 pieces of brush calligraphic and painting works of Chinese artists from China's Beijing, Guangzhou and Xian, of which 28 pieces are brush calligraphy and 58 pieces are brush paintings in a variety of techniques. The event will be organized to reinforce the Chinese-Thai art and cultural alliance and to honor HRH Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn, who has contributed greatly to art and cultural works.
