ข่าวทั่วไป Monday September 14, 2015 15:34 —PRESS RELEASE LOCAL

Bangkok--14 Sep--Baldwin Boyle Group (Thailand) For the first time, New Zealand's Lincoln University will be awarding 10 Global Challenges Scholarships to international undergraduates in 2016. Designed to engage passionate and cause-driven students with some of the most pressing issues facing humankind and the planet today such as climate change, food production and security, depleting resources, urban sprawl, the loss of biodiversity and pollution, ten scholarships at NZ$6,000 each will be offered to selected international students for 2016 who want to be part of the generation that will make a difference. As part of the scholarship, undergraduates will also become student ambassadors for the Global Challenges programme and will be required to work with the community. SchoolsLinc and Global Challenges Programme Manager Fiona Scott said the programme was opened up to international students to encourage more perspectives and ideas around the differing issues, and for students to further their own knowledge and awareness of other opinions and backgrounds. "Students on the Global Challenges Scholarship will have access to a programme encouraging them not only to develop their own interest in issues such as access to water, food security and deforestation, but to encourage others to participate as well. "They will assist the SchoolsLinc team to work with schools and teachers in developing resources and opportunities to investigate and collaborate on these issues, and also have access to speakers and workshops on different local and global concerns," said Ms Scott. Interested students need to create a three minute video talking about a global challenge and why they are interested in being part of the solution. For some inspiration visit www.lugeneration.co.nz. "We are also looking for students who can tie their Lincoln University studies to this global challenge and explain how their degree with help them feed the world, protect the future and help people to live well," said Ms Scott. Applications for the Global Challenges Scholarship close on 1 October 2015.
