Bangkok--2 Oct--Shangri-La Hotel, Bangkok
The management of Shangri-La Hotel, Bangkok led by Khunying Jawaratana Tejavej, Special Advisor, and Mr. Phillip Couvaras, Area Manager and General Manager, presented a cheque of 130,423.75 baht, which is a revenue raised from the "Elephant Care with Shangri-La" jointly organised by the hotel and Shangri-La Hotel, Chiang Mai, to Miss Soraida Salwala, Founder and Secretary General of the Friends of the Asian Elephant Foundation at the hotel's Boardroom Suite recently.
The "Elephant Care with Shangri-La" is one of the hotels' corporate social responsibility efforts to help save some of the world's most endangered animals from extinction. The activity allowed guests to purchase "Our Jumbo" children's book, T-shirt and mug exclusively created for this good cause. The children's book is written by Mrs Preeti Sachdev, who is currently residing in Singapore. She taught at Bangkok Patana School for 13 years where she worked very closely with children and that is how she became interested in story writing. Her stories are tailored for young children and ends with a food for thought.
