Mr Thunyakorn Rattanaprasit (2nd left), Fundraising Director for the Education for Development Foundation (EDF Foundation) is seen receiving 166,086 baht from Thai actress Ms Mew Nittha Jirayungyurn (centre) and family at The Sukosol Hotel.
The donation was raised during the actress's birthday celebration with her fans and will be spent as scholarships fororphaned students from the restive three deep-south provinces of Thailand's Under Same Sky project of the EDF Foundation.
Established in 1987 and registered as a charitable organisation No. 255 under the laws of Thailand, the EDF Foundation has provided scholarships to students and has organised CSR projects in schools in 51 provinces around Thailand.
For its commitment to help the less fortunate children especially on education in Thailand for some 28 years, the EDF Foundation has received several awards, including Thai Morality Award from the Association of the Union of the Disabled of Thailand in 2014, The Golden Kalapapruek Award from Khon Kaen University in recognition of the foundation's continuous development of scholarship programmes and educational development projects in 2013, and Thailand NGO Awards 2012 for large organisation category organised by the Rockefeller Foundation, Kenan Institute Asia and the Resource Alliance in 2012 and more.
