This year's Sugree Charoensook award was granted to "Narong Prangcharoen", a talented classical music composer, to honor his musical excellence, creativity and uniqueness that won him many prestigious international awards, as a result building reputation for Thailand. "This award is one of the seven awards in seven areas selected by seven organizations formulated to recognize the outstanding individuals via the selection process of identifying, honoring and motivating the social leaders who are dedicated to benefiting the social sustainability aspect and inspiring others to follow their footsteps. The seven areas cover the developments of education, library, urban community, music, sports, social affairs, as well as drug addiction prevention and problem-solving in community," Sathit added. Sugree Charoensook, Chairman of Sugree Charoensook Foundation, said that SET Foundation has given his foundation a chance to conduct music activities for youth, enabling the less fortunate children especially those in detention centers, hill tribes, and upcountry areas to sing and play musical instruments. This could enhance their physical and mental skills, cultivating the ability to live harmoniously in the society. Granting the award to Narong Prangcharoen would certainly inspire Thai musical talents and motivate their contributions to the Thai society.
